Couldn't you just read Atom's mind and figure out if she's into you? Or figure out what you could do to get her to like you?
Listen here, sir or madam. Just because I have telepathy doesn't mean I have the right to use it on whomever I want.
Yes, I could potentially enter Miss Split's consciousness, and yes, that may help me with this predicament. Will I do it, though? No. Why? Because it would be completely immoral. Mind reading is the ultimate invasion of privacy, and I will only do it in times of extreme need or if somepony specifically allows me to breach their thoughts. I don't do it for personal gain or advantage.
The only thing I do regularly to others is monitor the minds around me as a sort of radar. I can only view the outer... for lack of a better word... mental "aura" of somepony. It's quite enough, really; everyone's aura is unique and I can gather quite a lot about that mind simply from observing it's outward appearance.
And before you ask, yes, I have seen Miss Split's mental aura, and no, I will not show you what it looks like unless she specifically allows it.
