there’s a soft purr that flutters just at the back of her throat as honeyed eyes rest ‘pon the face of another.  peach dabbed lips slowly melting into a smile of sorts the longer she stared.  her intention hadn’t been to make them uncomfortable though  ,  not at all !!  alas  ,  her final giggle probably did just that before she slowly beginning:  “mister  ,  you look cool.”  the creature whispered  ,  silky voice practically oozing sincerity.

Violet colored eyes stared at the screen of the game reading YOU LOSE. Anger was rising and she was gnawing at her bottom lip. “...No freakin’ way.” She had already lost this game like five times over and the one time she did win the game malfunctioned and cheated her out of her win and her spot on the leader boards of this arcade fighting game. Maybe she should try again...? No. She was already out of tokens and she had already spent a decent amount of money in this arcade tonight. “Ugh.” A hand ran through her short hair. “Guess I’ll get on the leader board next time.”

  🐸.   Rage memes? DEAD? “Of course not.” Those things would forever live on through trolls even if the common memer didn’t use them. And even then, rage memes would live on in his heart. Honestly it was hard for him to name a truly dead meme.

SPECIFICS

FAVORITE FOOD: Curry, any of her mother’s cooking. Vic’s cooking.  FAVORITE DRINK: Tea, cola and water. Will live on all three. FAVORITE HOBBY: Depending on the verse, Joy enjoys/used to enjoy swimming. In OP she could enjoy existing underwater without the stress of breathing. A form of escapism. She enjoys swimming in normal verses too, but prefers to read books, singing very quietly to herself and staying comfortably in an expensive place. FAVORITE SCENT: Loves everything citrus, enjoys Jasmine as her mother adored it. Sweets are aso well accepted but anything refreshing. White linen, oranges, ticklish lemon. Also loves cinammon.  FAVORITE PERSON:  Her family; her sister. She’ll do anything for everyone in all of her verses. In OP she has has a lot of respect for Kuzan - losing him was unbelievably pressing.

LIST TEN FACTS ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:

1. She’s type who often pre-emptively strikes. Being a chess player, she recognises the importance of knowing the enemies next move, but this also means she has a tendency to make judgements early on. First impressions are extremely impacting for Joy - it requires significance to alter.

2. Very homesick. All the time. Just wants to be with her family. Will cry if family is mentioned, very soft in this sense. It’s her weakest point. Will cry if eating curry. If you act as family towards her (and she doesn’t hate you) she’ll get really emotional.

3. Biggest fear is being alone. Although she’s very independent, she struggles with being on her own everyday. Very lonely - especially in OP verse. Her youth makes her easily sway towards close relationships, but she just really wants to be at home with her mother. She’ll put on a front, but is likely to return home and cry at being on her own.

4. Is a cat and dog person. She’d probably have a very clingy cat - that always wants her attention, which she’d happily accept since she spends a lot of time alone these days. Also would have a big dog - maybe a doberman than obeys her and she loves a lot, or wolf-type dogs.

5. She’s really weak to romantic advances. If someone flirts with her in a genuine (especially soft) way, she gets really shy, reverts to her teenage form that she missed out on. 

6. Too much pride, it’s mostly her demise, but the confidence helps creating rapport with her higher ups. Standing out is important. Loves her guns ‘cause she’s not very strong herself. More agile if anything.

7. Hates basically all fruits. All of them apart from bananas. You force her to eat it and she will kill you, no questions asked. Absolutely a no-go.  Might cry.

8. Actually a big baby. She has a spoilt background so underneath her facade used for work, she’s really a brat and just wants attention, domestic relationships appeal to her due to the dream of just being at home.

9. Her sister is a huge motivation - if you get her started on her, she won’t stop talking. A huge sister-complex. Will ABSOLUTELY hate you if you do anything or say anything about Vic. End all. Don’t do it.

10. Loves dancing. Secretly. In touch with her culture and adores dancing behind closed doors. Performance art is her favourite type, where she can express herself. Super embarrassed if discovered or someone walks in on her. Really embarrassed. Frustration cries.

Kind people instantly soften her down. If they’re gentle, she feels soothed and relaxed. Really attracted to this type, especially soft banter and anything soff. People that don’t make her need to fight for something - just exist. She lives a busy life, someone to slow her down.

She, however doesn’t mind a challenge - and enjoys teasing personalities.

PERSONALITY TYPES THEY AVOID:

Arrogant, self-entitled individuals. People who most people would hate. Also finds a lot of people annoying. Not a fan of children. Hates anyone who looks down on her. She lives to destroy them.

WHAT DO YOU FIND DIFFERENT ( OR DISTINCT ) ABOUT YOUR PORTRAYAL?: It’s an OC so there’s nothing to really ‘compare’ to and since she’s multi-verse its even harder but I suppose in general I think Joy’s a very tangible character? There’s not tragic backstory, and she’s not (especially in OP) a good person. Inherently corrupt for the sake of being corrupt - not to be ‘good’, not ‘misunderstood’. She’s a character who knows her faults and avoids them? I personally love her a lot for her uniqueness. Although her appearance is very plebian and ordinary (apart from her ethnicity and dark skin which I have loved to bits since day one). Actually I started to struggle a little with Joy and after a break I made her multi-verse because she’s such a good stand-a-lone character. She can exist alone with no one else and I think that’s part of what I love about her. Ahhhhhh this is a bit embarrassing XD...

“Bye, Father! Bye, Mother!” he called out to them as he stepped out onto the front steps.

“Have a good time, Arturo! Make some friends!” his mother encouraged.

“Bring someone home, ya hear? Boy, girl, doesn’t matter to us!” his father added, a little laugh at the end.

He flushed slightly as he yanked the door shut, slamming it into the lock. He blinked, hurriedly glancing down the street to make sure no one had seen or heard what had just happened. Hesitantly, he let go of the door, shaking his head. He knew his father was only joking, but it didn’t stop that prickle of heat from rising up onto his face. His parents always had to say the most embarrassing things…

He stuffed his hands inside his pockets, practically hopping down the steps and onto the sidewalk. He gazed up at the bright morning sun, smiling faintly at the prospect of a relaxing day. It was Saturday, and thankfully, he had finished up all of his assignments for the coming week in preparation for the event he was attending today. He had worked tirelessly to make sure everything was done beforehand because he couldn’t stand the thought of work waiting for him when he came home after being out all day. Not only would it ruin his mood when he got home, but he wouldn’t be able to have any fun at all if all he could think about was the pile of homework sitting on his desk at home.

He began his small trek to Gamer’s Haven, his favorite game store, which was only a few minutes down the road; he loved the fact that his parents lived smack-dab in the middle of the busy city as it made it super easy for him to get around. He had caught wind of the Call of Duty tournament taking place today about two weeks ago when he had gone in looking for a used copy of an old Fallout: New Vegas DLC. They had had flyers posted everywhere in the shop, advertising their intense Call of Duty tournament where the last man standing would receive a $50 gift card to Gamer’s Haven. While he would have loved to participate himself (that $50 could seriously help him finish collecting all those DLCs), he knew he didn’t stand a chance.

He considered himself a gamer because he could easily log ten or more hours a day into a game when he had the time. He had some self control, and so, school always came before video games. He didn’t have the time to sit around for days at a time doing nothing but play games, which was usually what a lot of those pro gamers did. Besides, even if he could just sit around and play his favorites all day, he didn’t think he would enjoy it. He was the type of person who constantly had to be doing something or have something coming up; he didn’t like to have idle hands. As such, he’d probably get extremely bored and frustrated doing the same thing day in and day out.

Something else he had to take into consideration was that he mostly played RPGs and action/adventure games, along with the occasional life simulation ones. He hardly ever played shooters simply because he wasn’t g o o d at them. He could barely complete a Call of Duty campaign much less win a co-op match. Don’t get him wrong, he liked shooting in games, just not when it was the sole focus of the game. Even then, he would die more often than not. If he participated in this tournament, he’d be out in under a minute. He didn’t want to risk that kind of embarrassment.

Still, he chose to go to the shop during the tournament just because he thought it would be fun to watch. He had been in the shop a few times when they held events like that. The atmosphere was always charged and buzzing. Everyone was excited to be there and support their friends in the event. When he was surrounded by that kind of enthusiasm, he felt like he belonged. He felt like a part of the group. It actually helped him to gain a bit of confidence and strike up a few wayward conversations here and there. He met a couple of guys who frequented the shop that way, though he was reluctant to call them friends.

He let out a sigh as he continued walking. His mother’s words echoed in his mind. His first semester at university was coming to an end and he had still yet to make even o n e friend. He didn’t know what was wrong with him. He kind of blamed himself because he believed he wasn’t trying hard enough. He never stayed on campus for longer than he needed to, and he never interacted with any of his other classmates. He was always so focused on studying that he didn’t stop to give anyone the time of day. Even when he saw someone that he might have liked to talk to, he couldn’t muster up the courage to start that awkward getting to know someone phase. Maybe he needed to try and reach out to someone today...at least for his mother’s sake, yeah?

He stood before Gamer’s Haven, both hands in his pockets, gazing up at the sign above the door. This was his chance. Surely, he could find a friend here of all places. It shouldn’t be that hard, and he could open up with some small talk about video games instead of the lame old topics of the weather and where someone was from. He took in a deep breath and let it out, a small cloud forming past his lips thanks to the cold. He nodded his head to himself, determined to at least talk to someone. He could manage that much, couldn’t he?

Feeling more confident than before, he went to push open the door. Instantly, he was bombarded with the sound of chatter and gunfire. The little shop was packed. It seemed like the Call of Duty tournament had attracted in even more people than ever before. He deflated somewhat, an overwhelming urge to flee pressing at the back of his mind. While he enjoyed the smaller events they had, this was just WAY too many people. He hated crowds as they made his anxiety skyrocket. He was afraid that everyone was looking at him, judging him for anything he did. He felt his heart beat a little faster in his chest, his hands trembling in his pockets. Suddenly, a thunderous uproar washed over the shop, making him jolt. Applause broke out and that was when he noticed victory graphic displayed on someone’s computer. It looked like they had just finished the first round of the competition…

He took in another deep breath. He could do this. He wanted to be here. The cheering was enough to keep him grounded, to remember him of the fun that he was going to have. He just needed to find a small space away from everyone else for a moment to clear his head. They had moved some of the shelves around to place two long tables in the center of the shop where there were at least a dozen computers for people to participate in the tournament with. Everyone was crowding around the computers even though the flat-screen TVs scattered about were showing the results and play-by-plays. Beyond the computers though, by the back wall, was a fairly remote spot. There was one guy with bleach blonde hair standing back there a bit away from everyone else. He decided to head over that way seeing as the other guy didn’t look that sociable either.

He avoided the crowd at all costs, darting behind the shelves to get to the back instead. He came up from behind the other guy, sticking to the left, closer to the shelves. He breathed a sigh of relief. He could still see all the action from here, but he didn’t have to be swept up in the sea of people. Maybe this could still be fun, and just maybe, after he caught his breath, he could scrounge up the courage to talk to someone.
