what do you like best about your writing? :3

hm. i think i'm good with emotions. i think i do a good job at writing and conveying emotions. it's like. the reason i write. and i think i do a good job of it.

went around digging for something (a) i haven't posted and (b) that i can share, and found this. maybe not my best example, but it's a sweet scene:

Stonefur purrs softly next to her, his eyes closed and content. Tigerstar’s tail fits around them both, and if it bothers Stonefur, he doesn’t say anything.

Leopardstar slots between them, Stonefur’s face pressed into her chest and Tigerstar’s nose against her neck. Stonefur’s limbs snake around her, and she nuzzles the back of his neck. “I love you,” she murmurs.

“Love you too.” Stonefur yawns. “You can’t complain when I wake you up in the morning.”

“I absolutely can,” she sniffs. “I’ve earned my rest.”

“I haven’t?”

“Are you a leader?”

Stonefur growls in a weak, mocking protest. “I love you too much to want that.”

i think they're sweet.

like i'm just generally. proud of my ability to write about how people interact. i like that i write a lot of scenes where i don't describe how anyone feels but you know. i think i do a good job of that.

(bonus! atwri excerpt below the cut. there are spoilers, but if you know how i like to end stories, they shouldn't be that surprising.)

“Mine,” Nightshade says, pressing her nose to Mistyfoot’s forehead.

Mistyfoot churrs. Petals are already floating into her pelt, tangling with the soft white fur around her neck, the red standing out against her. Someone suggested blue, like Mistyfoot’s eyes, and Nightshade nodded and thanked them and chose something that would make Mistyfoot look like hers.

Maybe RiverClan will think it was just a poor choice, from a cat who is only beginning to learn about all of this, but Mistyfoot knows, and that’s the only thing that matters.

“Yours,” Mistyfoot agrees, nuzzling into Nightshade’s chest. It’s a very private statement, for a very public moment — Nightshade won’t fool herself into believing once-deputy of ThunderClan completing a courtship with the now-deputy of RiverClan, with all their past laid out, is anything but a public moment — but RiverClan is still learning to understand Mistyfoot, so for now, it’s still theirs.

Nightshade presses back into Mistyfoot, letting her scent, like berries crushed and left out in the sun, surround her.

My very favorite part of your fics: cat bdsm (literally it's amazing and I wish I could find more warriors writers who did it)

if anyone wants advice on writing cat bdsm my asks (and dms) are open. i try to keep this blog to a reasonable level of "arguably pg-13 if you squint" (don't laugh <3), so i direct most kink talk to my main (@fencesandfrogs), but if it's warriors related then u've given me an excuse <3

ik atwri is a big one here but it kinda focuses on a really specific dynamic. i'm pretty happy with it but also i found ONE article describing what i was going for. (i'm sure i could find more, but frankly there's not a lot of content in the realm of "looks pretty, gets taken care of." at least not in the way i want. *rubs temple*)

alcides is just. stonefur's in it for the service. that is the reward. certainly make their scenes easier to write. i don't have to constantly hunt down ideas. i'm just like "okay damn what's something stonefur can do for leopardstar? cool and the whole time she's just watching and he's just happy to do it for her."

anyway not to get terribly personal but when i'm attracted to someone one of my running thoughts is "i want to get on my knees in front of you" so i'm just writing what i know

is that still common writing advice?

“She came back limping.” Tigerstar has a response ready — he always does — but if he came up with it so soon, it’s insincere. Nightshade curls her lips. “What if it were Goldenflower?”

Tigerstar falters. Nightshade can see him come to an understanding. But just as soon, his eyes go hard again. “If you’re so concerned, I suggest you don’t let her end up in those situations,” he says, but his voice is flat, and Nightshade counts it as a victory.

“How do you expect I do that if you refuse to punish who’s responsible?”

His tail flicks. “Keep her with you if must,” he says. “And…I’ll remind cats not to bother her.

i doubt it'll be up until tomorrow (other parts have things to do and so on and so forth) but i hope to publish "swear my ever-dying love and then tear it apart" next. it's a nightshade piece in atwri, and hm...let me find something to hype it up...

"We have our own den now," Nightshade says. "Do you need me to explain?"

Stonefur shifts. "I'm, uh, not..."

"Let me say it straight. Within the confines of our den, I do not intend to moderate how I interact with Mistyfoot. If you come in, you accept that."

"I feel like I'm going to regret asking this," he mutters. "But what exactly am I potentially witnessing?"

and for something a bit more plotty...

"Never do that again," Mistyfoot growls. "I don't care what the stakes are, Nightshade. Don't pull that shit on me, do you understand?"

Human AU ATWRI thoughts?

Mistyfoot answer the door. It's obvious Nightshade dressed her — the deep red and bare midriff of the skin tight sweater isn't like what Mistyfoot usually wears. Well. She assumes Mistyfoot dresses herself. That might not be true. Either way, the color of her sweater, the way her skirt is a deep, fluid black, covering her knees but spinning when she walks, it's all a claim. Nightshade has always liked beautiful things.

Mistyfoot kneels, her head bowed, hair pulled to one side, and Nightshade swallows. How did she find someone this perfect? "Who do you belong to?" Nightshade asks, holding the collar above her. It's the same thing she asks every morning, but seeing Mistyfoot dressed in what she has laid out, waiting for Nightshade to collar her, is always heartstoppingly beautiful. "You." Nightshade places the collar around Mistyfoot's neck, locking it shut. That makes it different too — her collar tight to Mistyfoot's throat, unavoidable and unignorable. Mistyfoot releases her hair, looking up at Nightshade with her beautiful eyes, the red leather making its point. If she wasn't made up so nice, Nightshade would spin her against a wall just to kiss her. Instead, she offers Mistyfoot a hand up, brushing a stray strand of hair back. "You look lovely, pet."

Nightshade orders for both of them. It's not something Mistyfoot even thinks about, until they're out for dinner with Stonefur and Leopardstar, and Mistyfoot didn't so much as point something out on a menu. Leopardstar starts to comment, and Stonefur touches her hand, a glance passing between them. Mistyfoot takes a sip of water. "Not going to let your poor wife have an opinion?" Leopardstar shrugs off Stonefur's hand. So they're doing this.

Nightshade holds Mistyfoot against her, rubbing her back as she coughs. Mistyfoot's face is wet with tears, her fingers digging into Nightshade's shoulders. "Let it out, love," Nightshade says. "I've got you." Her legs are locked around Nightshade's waist, and the cough begins to mix with sobs.

i'm really confused about what made you think that (/gen), but no, it's not.

i mean, he's physically attacked her, yes, but that's explicit, not implied.
