Ok u needing to clarify in the tags that L in this universe is also a cat just made me laugh at the idea that he isn’t + he has to say to the task force with a straight face “hmm based on the timings, the person we’re looking for could be a student... or maybe even a cat” and the whole police force is just like “.........?” AND THEN L JUST WALKS AROUND WITH A CAT ON A LEASH FOR THE ENTIRE YOTSUBA ARC + light cat just scratching him during the fight sequences whilst L looks on with no expression

DEATH NOTE AS THE MUPPETS:

LIGHT would be Bert. Intelligent but also grumpy and serious and easily frustrated, his catchphrase is “Yes I DO mind.” Enjoys activities such as watching pigeons and collecting bottlecaps.

RYUK would be Statler and the audience would be Wardolf. You’re just the two old dudes sitting in the nosebleed section of the theater and cracking sarcastic jokes about everyone sweating on stage.

He also has some major Cookie Monster vibes, though… Apple Monster…

SOICHIRO would be Sam Eagle. Known for his patriotism and disciplined manner of being, often tries to bring class and dignity to the show without much success.

MATSUDA would be Ernie, the naive and often accidentally irritating troublemaker.

MISA would be Miss Piggy, known for her volatile diva personality and desire to present a feminine charm mixed with occasional bouts of aggressiveness and cheerfulness

REM would be Snuffleupagus, a gigantic and loyal and mostly low-key critter that most people can’t see

L would be Gonzo, a very ambiguous dude who loves high energy stunts and intense competition, is mostly out for a good time, and often gives off weird kinky sadomasochist vibes

MELLO would be Janice, a Californian blondie (I just really couldn’t think of anyone else lmao)

NEAR would be… uhhh…  Robin the Frog, a cool little guy who gets underestimated sometimes

WATARI would be the Swedish Chef

MATT would be Animal

and BEYOND would be Oscar the Grouch

Haha well probably not that different than their canon reaction to L! They looked pretty shocked by him, but also still tried to be polite and professional (though he did not return the courtesy lol)

Something that would be difficult to figure out for this AU would be how much L would know about Kira. I assume as a shinigami he would have way more behind the scenes knowledge of Death Notes and such than human L did, so if anyone was writing this AU for real it would take a lot of thought to make it work without stacking the odds too high on L's side right from the start.

Oh my god... imagine it happened right when they both lost their memories, how much more would this panel be relevant:

It’s hard to know where to even begin! I don’t really know where to slot this into the canon timeline. But generally I feel like Misa would probably be a little creepy about it somehow, in that she’d finally get to own Light’s bod like she always wanted to, in a way? So after the initial shock wore off maybe she’d be like “ooOooh I’m literally inside Light’s body and operating it right now, I can learn so much about him!” or something to that effect, lmao. But I could also see her throwing a tantrum in some way and being very vocal about how she wants her old body back because SHE doesn’t want to be Light, she wants LIGHT to be Light so he can be her sexy knight in shining armour again. 

As for what Light would do, I can’t see him being too happy about it. It would be kind of hilarious to see his mannerisms and seriousness coming out of Misa instead, for sure. I think he’d be really afraid of what Misa would do while controlling his body, so his main priority would be figuring out how to get their minds swapped back again as soon as possible. It might be interesting to see either one of them attempt to masquerade as each other in order to achieve some sort of goal? Lol... I don’t really know where to go from here with this scenario, but it could definitely be entertaining in a fic or something like that!

I am definitely glad that DN gave us such a flawed human frog of a detective, but think the AI AU sounds like a cool alternate scenario... but!!! only if the homoerotic tension between L and Light stays the same lmao (and instead of awkward foot washing, we get awkward ASMR or sth i dunno).

Ahaha omg awkward ASMR.... we need a Her AU where L is a smart house type thing and runs the entire task force building and the foot washing is him like putting mood lighting on and running a romantic bath lol

Hi 👋 What if L was a AI that was made to solve special cases like the real L and it still has the same personality of him too, how would it have effect the Story especially on how would Light deal with it if it’s immune to the affects of the Death Note? I’m curious to know what you’re opinion on this is? (Thank you for reading.)🙏

I guess it depends on how the AI L was able to interact with the characters and such? Haha I’m really not good at thinking out cyberspace type things because it’s not a genre I’ve ever delved into much myself. It would definitely make things very difficult for Light if he couldn’t kill L with the Death Note because he wasn’t physically alive. I assume Light would try his best to sabatoge the AI somehow using his hacking skills and such? He was very good with hacking and programming himself in canon… but other than that I really don’t know how to think it out much further, sorry!
