What's your favorite YOI AU so far? (There are A LOT of them)
Don’t make fun of me friend, but my AU preference is actually Canon Divergence AUs. Overall, I find that Victor and Yuuri’s characterization seems off when skating is not involved because so much of who and what they are as characters is shaped by their experiences with skating. Which is not to say that there aren’t great AU’s out there, I just don’t read as many of them. But here are some that I have enjoyed/am enjoying!
Of complete AU’s I favor pretty much anything @lucycamui comes up with.
I’m also reading @kazliin HP AU, but I’m a huge Potter fan, so it’s not surprising that I enjoy it.
I also love the Star Trek AU’s including To Boldly Go by xylophones. There’s another one where Yuuri and Victor are a Pilot/Co-pilot team at Starfleet Academy, but I can’t think of the name of it. I am also a Star Trek fan, if that wasn’t obvious (it was TV GOLD, okay?!)
I’m addicted to Surrogate by @rougeandtonic, which is an AU, omegaverse mpreg fic (which usually isn’t my cup of tea but… I started it on the subway one day) IT IS. SO. WELL. WRITTEN.
My current favorite Canon Divergence AU fics are Setting Sun by @iwritevictuuri and Undiscovered Country by @shysweetthing. There are so many good ones that I’ve read, though!
I also REALLY love Reverse AU’s (Where Yuuri is the champion and younger Victor comes to train with/flirt with his adorable coach). And the cheesy, but wonderful Accidental Marriage AU’s where Victor and Yuuri get married the night of the Sochi Grand Prix when inebriated and have to “stay together” for reasons of the author’s devising.
