Steve’s resolve to keep baking softened a little as he caught sight of the clock, slowly inching towards 11 PM. If he didn’t force himself to go to bed now, he’d find himself making fondant roses well into the early hours of the morning. Pushing himself onto his feet and grabbing a couple trash bags in need of disposal, Steve plodded through the kitchen towards the back door leading into the alley. He shivered a little as he stepped outside, the cold immediately sliding under the collar of his sweater and raising goosebumps along his arms. He swung the trash bag into the dumpster and was about to head back inside when he caught a small, shaky movement out of the corner of his eye. 

“Peter,” he decided resignedly, heart breaking clean in two at the realization. Pursing his lips, he moved around the dumpster and confirmed his own suspicions, chest twisting in recognition. He crouched down to Peter’s level, a sad, entreating smile lifting the corner of his mouth. “Hey, kid. You sleep out here tonight and you’re gonna freeze to death. Please at least come inside for a little hot chocolate and let me try to talk you into taking the couch until this cold front passes.”

Realized not everyone who's interested in the Minecraft AU knows abt the innerworkings of the characters and lores, so I'm trying to find ways to explain things easily for ppl who are curious. So here's a simple relationship chart I whipped up for testing. I should note that despite there being a list of pairings canon to the AU, I don't discourage shipping of the characters. Hell, my friend Atlas pairs Groda and Makena together (which is funny, I love it), so it's really no issue to me. All I really ask in the context of shipping any of the characters is to respect the identities in place for them (Makena being a lesbian, Zuri being gay, Kai being aromatic, soforth.) Otherwise I encourage exploring different dynamics, and love to see what people do with it.
