Hello! I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and thank you all for your patience :3 as you can see, it's MUCH longer than the previous parts, but I gave myself the deadline of the end of this month, and thankfully I was able to hit it (phew! although it did take a few dozen late nights and one all-nighter).
The idea of this part spawned with the line that Spamton NEO has at the end of his pacifist boss fight when he says, "I'M FINALLY GONNA BE A BIG SHOT!!! HERE I GO!!!! WATCH ME FLY, [MAMA]!!!!" and that spawned a lot of questions for me. like does he have a mom? does he have a family??
In the previous comic chapter, Spamton mentions that the "people back home aren't really keen on change," so it felt only natural to explore what that might look like "domestically".
I was a little hesitant to give the comic a "dead mom" figure, but then I considered how Chapter 2's dark world is intrinsically tied to the Holidays and how Carol and Rudy might've influenced Spamton's own parental figures (i.e. Carol's pressure to succeed due to a strong family image and Rudy's sickness) Ultimately although I feared it'd be cliche, I think I tried my best lol and I think it's pretty good!
And! On the topic of quality, I wanted to thank my good friend Nix (sharpie.dust on Insta) who helped with the background flats for the comic. It allowed me to focus a lot more on the character acting and background lineart, which was absolutely instrumental to enhancing the quality of the piece (and likewise, the audience immersion). Give them some love if you've got Instagram, I deadass don't think I could've done it without them.
Also shoutout to Canele, 3musketears, funtergeist, kiwipineappleparasol, mickeycfs, mountainyeti, and gabberdraw for being my emotional support on various streams and calls as I finished this chapter. You da best <3 and deadass kept me from spiraling into madness
Next part will likely be the last part of this series. I am a bit burnt out and I do have to focus on some other projects and zines for a hot second, so I might give it a few weeks before I work on the finale. Still, I hope I gave you some nice TransSpamton/Spamtenna food to chew on <3
