More purple Spring flowers - Aubretia this time growing over a rocky wall. Every single year I get paranoid about other people’s Aubretia being out earlier than mine. But mine comes when it’s ready - and that’s later because the garden is on top of a cold hill.

So Martin's one-true-love was Laterose of Noonvale.

Matthias's journey to becoming a warrior occurred during the Summer of the Late Rose.

I mean, Aubretia did explain why the roses sometimes bloom late when she gifted them to the Abbey.

But I'm just saying that Martin totally slipped into Abbot Mortimer's head to give him the idea to name that season "The Summer of the Late Rose" because he wanted his favorite season in Redwall ever (due to the naming of his protégé) to also have a connection to his one-true-love, if only by name.
