Releasing a deep breath, Emerson realized how nervous he was. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been this genuinely scared. His heart was pounding, almost at a rate that he couldn’t keep up with. His mind was flying in a million different directions, nearly deterring his focus.
He’d had the day off from work, making it the perfect time to get everything ready. He’d taken Hudson to stay with his parents, hoping Audrey wouldn’t be upset about it, since he hadn’t told her. He’d rushed home, cooked dinner, and cleaned the house as best he could. Checking the time on his phone, he knew Audrey would be home soon. As if on cue, he heard the front door open, and smiled as she came into view. “Hey, beautiful.” He mused, leaning against the wall.
