When Jayden’s dad called him earlier that Sunday to see if he was free to have dinner, his first reaction was to say no, but seeing as the older man insisted, saying he had some people to introduce to Jayden, curiosity spoke louder, so he accepted the invitation. With his father picking him up in a few hours, Jay had some free time to do some research on a few things, as well as trying to continue editing a small project he had started about one month ago and hadn’t been able to finish yet. Too many ideas floating in his head, too little time to actually do something about them. Upon looking at his laptop’s clock, he noticed it was time to take a shower and get ready because dear ol’dad would be driving by soon.
Things had never been the best between them, which it was why sharing a car with his father and having to answer his questions felt so extremely awkward to him. Luckily for Jayden, the man kept going on and on about these people he wanted Jayden to meet and how it would mean a lot for him if Jayden liked them (why, the younger Bennett would never know). Finally, they arrived at the house and he smiled at the older woman when she came to the door and greeted Jayden’s father with a brief kiss, which turned his stomach into light knots because--well, his dad wasn’t the best person around the block. But, he was introduced to the woman and her daughter Audrey... and when the older couple left for the kitchen, Jayden let out a sigh, stepping closer to the younger woman and clearing his throat.
“Hey--are you alright with all of... you know... this? Your mom seems nice...”
