As easy as it might be to just shift all the blame onto Shido (and Shido certainly carries the blame here for both establishing and encouraging Akechi’s bodycount), it’s disingenuous to do so when Akechi was also very much a victim of his own trappings.
I’m a bit tired myself so I can’t really address everything right now but I will say I’m not lumping literally everything off on Shido. That’s not what I said, I’m not sure where I made the implication either. If it sounded like that it’s because I’m not repeating myself on ‘Akechi carries part of the burden’ for like the umpteenth time in a post. It gets tiring.
I even said that he had his own motivation and that he probably made limitations for himself earlier on. Said choices warped by a matter of convenience for his goal but also by a matter of survival under Shido. They aren’t mutually exclusive I will grant that, but they are equally present and defining factors considering how omnipresent a force Shido is in his life, if his treatment of the others is any indicator (does not trust any of them, would cut them off if they so much as slacked off etc.).

it could also be the case that yaldabaoth tricked the twins, too, and fed them some bullshit about maintaining a balance between order and chaos in the universe. their awareness and memories were messed up after being split; they might not have known better.
That too, yeah. They did after all have a hard time reconciling their discomfort with ‘rehabilitation’, for... a very long time. All kinds of stuff could have flown them by with one buzz word or another, like ‘ruin’ for one. Hmm..
