Could this year possibly get any better for me?! 😄

In April, I went to the Steel City Comic Con, which is held three times a year, in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, to meet martial artist Jason David Frank, who played Tommy, the Green and White Rangers on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. His character was my favorite Ranger, and my other favorite Ranger on the show was Kimberly “Kim”, the Pink Ranger, played by Amy Jo Johnson. I accomplished my lifelong dream when I met Jason, and today I accomplished another dream when I met Amy Jo Johnson today at the August Steel City Con!

I could not believe how lucky I felt when I first saw that she would coming to this very con, because I had always admired and wanted to meet her, too. So when I met her, I bought some pictures, had her sign some of them and two of my Power Rangers DVDs, took a selfie, and got the photo op of us together. I had Jason sign the photo op of us in which he personalized it to me, and I had Amy Jo do the same thing today.

Also, back in April, one of the pictures I bought was a group photo of all six Rangers from the second season of the show, and Jason signed it. I thought it would be very cool to one day get the signatures of all the other Rangers in that picture, so I brought it with me to the con today, and Amy Jo gladly signed it, and personalized it to me, too!

Man, I feel so lucky to have met my two favorite Power Rangers after years of dreaming that I might someday! 2017 will definitely be a year I’ll never forget because of these comic cons, and I hope I will get to meet more in the future! 😁 👍🏻

I’m going to miss swimming every day … thankfully I live in AZ and I have at least another month before the water is too cold.

Beautiful Pictures of Hell

Got some photos cut off when I responded to a "modern photos that remind one of Renaissance paintings" thread, so here's all of the ones I picked from the many of the weekend of Unite the Right, the fascist riots in Charlottesville in 2017. Needless to say, you should not look at them if you are squeamish. I am not including the most iconic photo because it shows a murder. I was part of the other iconic photo from that weekend, which only shows hundreds and hundreds of attempted murders. Feel free to ask me any question you have about that weekend, or even better, buy Nora Neus's new book, 24 Hours in Charlottesville, which is the first book that actually gets it right. I also suggest you find the works of Molly Conger.

Day Thirteen

Astronomy, Vol. 1 - Sleeping At Last

I have always had an affinity for Sleeping At Last songs, whether or not I knew it. In some of my favorite movies and tv shows. In accordance to some of my favorite books. Along with a personality test that I had to take in High School. As I plan my wedding. Sleeping At Last always appears. So today I decided that I would try to listen to one of the ablums. Come to find out, there are to many to choose from. One of which is a series for which I do not know where to begin. So rather than get distracted in the chaos of choice, I went where my heart lead me. To the place that feels the most familiar. To the stars. 

August 21, 2017: Total Solar Eclipse - If you are unfamiliar with the day. August 21, 2017 was the day that the moon eclipsed the sun and that eclipse traveled through northern america. This is a day that I can remember vividly. The excitement to see this event. The fear in what if the sun never came back. These emotions are perfectly captured in this song.

September 15, 2017: Cassini - The Grand Finale - Personally I was unfamiliar with the Cassini spacecraft. However, after realizing what a magnificent voyage this craft took. This Grand Finale is truly a final send of. The last moments of a 20 year trip. Coming to an end. All of this hard work and collaboration of mind, send hurling towards its doom. Yet in that moment there is peace and tranquility. 

Saturn - Though I am unfamiliar with the events surrounding the grand celestial body, I know that there had to be something truly wonderful and mystic that lead to this song. I had fully anticipated this to be a fully instrumental song and album, but these lyrics are moving and awe inspiring. 

December 13, 2017: Geminid Meteor Shower - Even reading about this even makes me feel a need for exploration. But hearing a musical equivalent is enough to make you question what you are doing with you life. What is your purpose? Are we put on this planet to live a stagnant life, or is there something more, is there someone out there waiting for us? 

January 31, 2017: Super Blue Blood Moon - If I can recall, other than when I was little and I thought the moon was following me in my car, I think I can say that this particular moon was when I first felt the moon call to me. Not to get existential or anything, but sometimes when you see the moon in all of its glory, and everything that the moon can be, there is something that makes you want to go to the moon. This song captures the call. 

June 20, 2018: Pds 70b (Birth of a Planet) - What I did not understand when I first researched what this song was, is that we humans, for the first time ever, got to witness in real time a planet being formed. This song is so youthful and fun that it feels less of a story of birth and more of a story of life. 

July 27, 2018: Total Lunar Eclipse - Have I mentioned lately that I love the moon? Because I really go. She is so peaceful. This song encapsulates the brilliance of the moon perfectly. Yet leaving room for the imagination to open its own pathways. 

August 12, 2018: Persid Meteor Shower - Shooting stars and meteors are something truly spectacular. On the night of August 12, 2018, the sky was clear. The moon was small and the great canvas was ready for painting. 

October 30, 2018: Kepler - Goodnight - The Kepler telescope. If machines could tell stories, this one would have plenty. Thousands of discoveries. So many miles trecked. The places this telescope has been and the things it has seen, almost feel out of reach of my mind. 

December 17, 2018: Farout - This is another day that I can remember vividly. I am an avid Pluto is a Planet kind of person and when I read that we might have found a ninth planet, I was confused. I recall asking one of my teacher how many planets there were and why my math kept saying that this would make ten. I was angry, enraged, broken hearted. We already have our nine, I am fine to make ten but give credit where credit is due. So one I could look past my anger and realize that we had now seen the outreaches of our solar system and seen what we might know as fact change, I was in awe. 

Febuary 13, 2019: Opportunity - Mission Complete - Not to get too far into things or to get to emotional. This Rover, this robot, had been roaming the red planet for nearly as long as I had been alive. I had heard about it, in random blurbs, whenever some scientist thought this might be the end. But there we were, the day before my birthday, and this robot that had done so much for our exploration, passed on. Not to say that there was life inside of that rover, but wasn't there? Wasn’t there 15 years of hard work and science and math and passion poured into this rover? Did it not have a story? Was there nothing greater for this bot? And for it to be so alone, going dark, it was enough to make a tear whelup in my eye for sure. Listening to this song brings back all of those emotions and all off the pain I had felt for a insentient piece of metal, a glorified computer? This is what I enjoy about space so much. No matter who you are there is a greater calling coming from out there, and the more we learn from what we can not reach, the closer we are to getting there. It is my hope that while I still reside in the human form, that I get to see our Girl Oppy be returned home, whether that to her home here on earth, or simply dust her off and let her reside on her extraterrestrial home. 

April 10, 2019: Powehi - Image of a Black Hole - Talk about a day to remember. I was in physics and we were ending the year and we had nothing left to study so we decided to study blackholes. The day these images of a blackhole came out I sent the day in that room just boasting about it with my teacher. The time and research that went into the photos of a blackhole is amazing. To top it all of it was a woman who took these photos, proving to all of the young girls who stare at the stars, that they too can be the one to discover new things. I find a planet or a star or black hole. Anything. 

January 30, 2020: Spitzer - Final Voyage - I am sure there are many emotions that I will not understand. However, one that I desire to feel, is to be there, in the command center, as a spacecraft if sent on its final mission. To see everything it has done and give it a job well done you may rest command. That, I feel, is something only a few have the privilege of feeling. Of understanding to its fullest extent.
