okay is it just me or does reading highly anticipated books make anyone else nervous? like i went out to the bookstore when they opened to get a copy of Sunrise on the Reaping and I can’t bring myself to read it. like there’s too many uncertainties that I am nervous to read it. I mean we know Haymitch lives. We know his family and girlfriend do not have the same fate. But like what happens in the middle to make that true?

the same thing happened with the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. and I didn’t end up finishing the book until after the movie came out

Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!

For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!

Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!

genuinely not okay. I do not support what liam payne has been doing i’ve the last several years but the news of his death has made me incredibly unwell.

I want to preface with the fact that I know this is not grieving in the way that his family is grieving and that I will never understand what they are going through but still damn this shit is awful.

I have supported one direction since the band formed. I was only like 8 or 9 when i started listening to them so to hear that liam passed is in some ways a loss of a part of my childhood if that makes sense. Like I just always thought they were going to be around and I never thought we would see a day like this for easily 50 years. I also always had a weird feeling that one of them was going to go young. which i understand is morbid but the 27 club doesn’t feel coincidental to me i guess?

anyways. today i’m grieving but really it’s 9 year old me who learned that country was the only genre of music

10 year old me who hid their 1D magazine under their bed

11 year old me who got to see This Is Us in theatre

12 year old me who was very vocal about their love for harry styles

13 year old me who thought zayn leaving would be the worst thing to ever happen to the band

14 year old me who was so sure that 1D would get back together before the year was up

this is a sad time for many people. i hope his family can find comfort in knowing that so many people loved and supported him
