august  couldn’t  feign  oblivious  if  he  wanted  to   and  august  was  far  too  curious  to  try . he  couldn’t  if  he  wanted  to  though .  what  happened  impacted  his  child  and  with  that ,  there  was  no  true  escape  from  it  although  the  shelbys  generally  had  a  rather  unique  way  when  it  came  to  dealing  with  what  troubled  them  but  that  was  then  and  this  was  now .

august  moved  from  his  office  to  the  front  door ,  pulling  it  open .  “  wasn’t  expecting  anyone  today , “ he  hummed  before  stepping  back  to  pull  the  door  open  more . “  something  troubling  you ? “

    the  thing  about  august  was  that  he  could  be  a  charming  man  when  he  wanted  to  be .  most  of  the  time  he  turned  the  charm  up  for  most  people  but  there  were  some  in  this  town ,  even  with  the  short  amount  of  time  he’s  been  here ,  managed  to  crawl  their  way  under  his  skin  .  he  sat  in  the  diner ,  looking  over  a  few  notes  when  someone  came  over  to  strike  up  a  conversation  despite  the  posture  august  held . ‘  you’re  quite  rude , ‘  he  managed  to  let  out ,  barely  looking  up .

      contrary to what people probably thought about august , especially in this town , he didn’t mind being on his own . he didn’t necessarily need to be surrounded by people even if he was the host of several get togethers back in the city but august made no move here to make himself more than what he was . if people were skeptical , he was fine with them being skeptical . people could think what they wanted about both him and his son .

that day , august had taken to the small diner in town .it wasn’t what he was used to but it would definitely do . he barely looked up as others came in and out let alone walked past his table . ‘  least  people  are  quieter  here , ‘ august mumbled more to himself than anyone else .

'  no  kieran  today ? ‘ august asked when he looked up from where he stood at the fridge , glancing back at his son before grabbing a drink and allowing the door to slip shut . ‘  well  ,  when  they  come  back , ‘ he motioned towards the fridge , ‘  there’s  some  more  options  for  them  to  eat . ‘ as far as august was concerned , the morettis were apart of the family which meant that he might as well have things they may like to eat stocked up . @crmnvlty​

"  ah , “  he  hummed , “  don’t  mistake  this  for  interest .  i  actually  find  you  quite  boring . “  most  humans  were  as  far  as  august  was  concerned .  while  most  demons  like  him  found  amusement  or  interest  in  humans  for  one  reason  or  another ,  that  wasn’t  exactly  august  .  he  found  most  of  them  to  be  painstakingly  boring .

"  you  may  not  be  aware  of  this  but  i  actually  find  you  quite  rude . “  august  may  have  been  a  charming  man  but  he  could  also  be  abrasive  at  times  and  e  wasn’t  known  for  holding  back  his  feelings  or  thoughts  toward  someone  else  unless  he  had  to ,  as  in  a  professional  setting .

august  could  sense  someone  who  didn’t  want  to  be  here  from  a  mile  away  and  that  seemed  to  be  the  impression  that  matteo  was  giving  off .  august  didn’t  expect  to  be  in  this  position  when  he  arrived  into  town  but  he  opted  to  do  a  favor  even  if  this  was  less  than  professional  considering  august  knew  the  other’s  father  .

he  sat  across  from  matteo .  he  rested  against  the  chair ,  leg  crossed  over  the  other . “  we  can  talk  about  whatever  you  wish ,  “  august  pointed  out ,  “  or  talk  about  nothing  at  all .  “  he  wasn’t  exactly  here  to  push  the  other .  sometimes  this  took  time  and  time  would  only  build  trust  in  the  long  run . @saintivcry​
