There’s a lot to unpack in this drill but the focus is on proximal stability and distal mobility. . It took me a second to realize this athlete was not lunging but he was actually sliding back on a floor disc; however, a similar exercise could be performed with a Backstep lunge. I love how at the end range of this move your challenging both transverse plane rotation and sagittal plane hip mobility; then everything comes together with a strong thoracic rotation with powerful hip extension on the stabilizing leg to finish the move. . Great job by the coaches/athletes @jared_dyem on demonstrating this move (I spent some time on their site and they’re worth following.)
