I am still plodding along with the audiobook of A Court of Mist and Fury - it has actually really helped me remain sane during the last few days as listening to it at bedtime really helps distract my brain from worrying about things 💕 Do you ever listen to #audiobooks?? I always feel like I'm cheating or something when I do - but I find them so helpful for distressing. I listen to them mostly on my drive to and from work (60-90 mins each way) as they distract me from the queue of traffic I'm normally stuck in and calm my road rage 🙈 The lovely @booksofthemuggleborn and @bookstravelandtea informed me that there are now over 3k of you...wow! I don't know what to say... 😍😊😭😁😱😊😍 I'm quite stunned really! Did you know I kind of started a #bookstagram twice...the first time I used to post the odd #bookish picture on my personal IG and then everything got confusing...my none bookish friends thought I was weird, so I panicked and deleted the whole thing 😂 I then started again a week or so later from scratch - purely dedicated to books and I just never expected this level of warmth and acceptance from everyone I have encountered here! Each and every one of you is truly amazing! Happy #socksunday 👣 Queen of Shadows was by far my favourite of the TOG series- I thought the first two books were a bit Meh! and I nearly gave up after COM but had heard a lot about Rowan - and knew I had to meet him! I was so glad I stuck with it...not just for Rowan, but also for the Blackbeak story lines - which I just adore!! 🐉 So... day 7 of #livelaughbooksaugust and #lilbookishaugust - fictional friendships...I chose Aelin and Lysandra - I thought their friendship was a great development and had a genuine, unforced feel to it. 🌸 Day 7 of #augustfantasychallenge - character I would imprison for life.... Arobynn Hamel - oh gosh he is such a creep! I'm ashamed to say I was a little bit seduced by his character at the start of this book... there is a line he says to Aelin which is just so passionate- I would have fallen for him hook line and sinker- it was only as things went on I realised I truly have awful taste in fictional men! 😂 Day 7 of #augustwithkelsie - #socksunday 💕 In other news- Pooch got her results from the vet and it isn't anything serious just an abscess - so she is being treated with antibiotics! Good morning weekend!!! 🌸 So this is my entry for @thesqueakycupboard amazing giveaway #hersandtheirsga - to enter all you have to do is recommend a book.... 💕 So I have chosen Wild Swans by Jung Chang - I was bullied into reading this by my mum, but I have to say I am so glad she did because it is a truly brilliant and important read! 🌸 It is one of those books that is seriously depressing but very uplifting at the same time...it both destroys and restores your faith in humanity...it opens your eyes to corners of the world you may not have known anything about and it keeps you thinking for weeks (months even) after finishing it! 💕 I don't read books like this often- I'm a young adult, fantasy, chick lit lover usually- but I was glad I read this...sometimes it's good to read something outside of your comfort zone. 💕 Day 6 of #augustwithkelsie - must reads and #augustfantasychallenge - book to be made into a movie 🌸 #books #bookstagram #bookstagramfeature #bookishfeatures #totalbooknerd #igreads #booksandflowers #wildswans #jungchang #booksandtea #bibliophile #booklr #book

I adore days where I can get all the monthly challenges I try and do into just one picture- it's just one of those perfect moments where the stars align and everything is right in the world ✨ That has been the one small plus to what is turning out to be a rubbish day...my windows are being fitted this week and one of them is cracked and some of them were measured wrong and don't fit- so I am living in a half windowed house at the moment that looks like a building site and it's just horrible 😭 On top of that my poor pooch is really under the weather and not her usual terrible self- so we are doing an emergency trip to the vets tonight 😔 hopefully they can perk her up a bit! 🐶 Day 4 of #livelaughbooksaugust - fictional world road trip... I would definitely go to Wonderland. I just think you would see so many weird and wonderful things!
