happy sweetie pie's day!!! 💚💚💚
Turns out Strawberry's aunt Praline has a crush on Kiki Keylime and asked her out on a date.
Lastly, here’s Aunt Praline in the style of Oswaldo — a first for me! 😁
Bitbic x Svtfoe
Aunt Praline: Y'know girls, it was very nice of you to try to set me up with Lemon Drop and all, but I'm a lesbian.
Lemon Meringue: I thought you were American?
Aunt Praline: No, I mean, like, I'm gay.
Strawberry Shortcake: So, you're happy!
Aunt Praline: I mean, I like women.
The Berry Besties: Ohhh...
Blueberry Muffin: So we should try to set you up with my mom, then?
Aunt Praline: (incredulous) No!
They are the most special to me
Strawberry Shortcake: What’s for dinner?
Aunt Praline: I can’t tell you, it’s a soup-prise.
Strawberry Shortcake: ...Is it soup?
Aunt Praline: I soup-pose it could be.
Strawberry Shortcake: Enough with the soup puns!
Aunt Praline: You never soup-port my jokes!
(five minutes later)
Strawberry Shortcake: (in cutaway) ...It was TACOS-
General Thoughts on Aunt Praline's Sweetie Pie
I don't really know how I feel about this one. I always like when Aunt Praline gets some of the focus, but I don't necessarily care about her love life (and I was spoiled on who her date was months ago, so no thoughts on that reveal). And I feel like this format is one the series has done to death: a character has a problem, everyone chimes in with conflicting advice, it's a big mess, and then an alternate solution is found.
I did like Aunt Praline being "Wait, why am I taking advice from children?" and then deciding to go on the date because it couldn't be worse than the practice one they put her through (even if her description of how bad it was seemed a bit much, but that's more on the four minute runtime not allowing even time for it to be truly horrible). And you know that if it wasn't her aunt, Strawberry would have been right in there with the rest of them making her own date advice contribution.
Another thing I liked was the establishing shot showing Orange Blossom's family, Lime Chiffon and her dads, and Mr. Mangosteen and his partner.
Lastly, after two and a half seasons, Wildbrain finally uploaded an ep with end credits! I know they've been going back and reuploading older episodes with the opening theme and end credits, but this is the first time a current episode has them. Frankly, it's nice, and makes me wonder why they didn't do this sooner.
