Gonna take the SAT tomorrow and I just know I'll be sitting in that testing room with this GIF being the only thing on my mind:

You know what messes me up?

I don't think we're ever told when BMC Act One takes place. Act Two starts on or around Halloween, obviously, but the first act can be anywhere between the first day of school (unlikely) and the day of the Halloween party.

This means there's anywhere between a few hours to two MONTHS between acts.

Since play rehearsals begin at the end of Act One and performances are in Act Two, I'm led to believe there's about a month (give or take) of time between acts.

That's about a month of Jeremy being Squipped. A month of Jeremy leading Brooke on. A month of Rich's Squip getting worse and leading him to desperation.

A month of Michael left with absolutely no contact from Jeremy. A month of trying to catch his eye in the hallway, calling out to Jeremy only to promptly be ignored, wondering if he did something wrong to lead Jeremy to make that decision. A month of feeling like he isn't good enough, despite the glimmer of hope that drives him to reach out to his best friend at his lowest, only to have his greatest fears confirmed.

Just food for thought.

So I watched the Minecraft movie...

It was lowkey peak ngl.

(Spoilers ofc)

The first few minutes were maybe the funniest thing I've seen in a movie when viewed through atleast a semironic lens

The whole entire theatre said all the meme lines at the same time as Jack Black and applauded after "I...am Steve"

Jack Black singing caught me so off guard

Technoblade reference was so awesome

Steve and Garrett were very yaoi I shipped them since they first made eye contact with each other

I was actually genuinely smiling through most of the movie especially the ending

HOWEVER there were some low points, those being Garrett being made out to be a liar and backstabber and whatever when he literally didn't do much of anything wrong. A lot of the character writing kind of fell flat imo, especially the fact that the villain was given a "tragic" backstory then wasn't considered a sympathetic villain for any reason. Atp literally just don't keep in the backstory lol it doesn't add anything to the narrative.

I'm also a little bitter that they used the MASTERPIECE that is Lena Raine's Pigstep, for a dumb little gag. But, yknow, that's just me.

All in all, not nearly as good as it COULD have been (Animation vs Minecraft takes the throne tbh) but genuinely a lot better than I expected. In the end, it was an ok movie that was actually pretty funny and made me smile

And the mobs looked really bad except the endermen and maybeeee the bees and wolves, but the worldbuilding looked ok atleast.

✨Xeni headcanons✨ because he's my favorite skrunkly guy and I'm not normal ☺️

- Operating under the assumption that there is an entire society including schools and such inside Riley's mind, Xeni is likely fresh out of college, and pursued some sort of art or filmmaking degree. He had one or two professors who supported his filmmaking style... and many others who did not.

- As basically everyone has unanimously agreed, Xeni is somewhere under the trans umbrella. I headcanon them as nonbinary (I find that fitting also because these little nonhuman neuron guys likely have a different understanding of gender than we do). I like to think Xeni uses he/they/xe.

- (Regardless of everything I just said about my interpretation of the mind workers' concept of gender) Xeni is gay. That is simply a fact, sorry, I don't make the rules (/silly).

- Xe spends like an hour every morning styling xyr hair with a flat iron and has naturally curly hair, like Jean's. If it rains, he's toast.

- They were both a band kid and a theatre kid at some point in their educational career; probably band (woodwind) in middle school and theatre in high school.

- Being someone to disregard and even shun the mainstream, I think xe listens to indie/alternative type music. Will Wood, My Chemical Romance, Marina and the Diamonds, Mitski, Penelope Scott, etc.

- Pinterest board maker, Dark and Chaotic Academia enjoyer, classic literature reader

- For no real reason I'd like to believe he just cannot handle caffeine, and drinks hot cocoa all the time instead. When Xeni goes to the cafe they say "I'll have the usual, please" and it's hot cocoa with foam and cinnamon (which is very tasty, I've tried it myself) but would lowkey be embarrassed if anyone found out.

- Based on the way xe reacts to Paula and other characters physically interacting with xem, xe's either touch-averse or touch-starved (probably both). I think we all more or less agree that he's pressured and not treated well by his aunt, which is the most likely cause (I could write essays of headcanons regarding Xeni's relationship with Jean but that's a post for another time)

- They experimented with lots of different hair styles, many of which were short, until realizing they preferred the flow and bounciness of longer hair. Xe dyed xyr hair in so many different ways in the past; dark blue tips, green tips, split dyed white and blue, and all sorts of variants of streaks (white, purple, green, etc).

Watched Dream Productions! Many thoughts!

Xeni is my favorite character, he's pretentious and a little pathetic and I love him to death and will defend him with my life; I'll probably rewatch the series just to see more of him, tbh

Also (kinda spoilers) the character arcs both Paula and Xeni went through! Paula and Xeni being practically enemies and eventually becoming besties,,, and Paula being like, a better, more embarrassing aunt to Xeni? Peak writing, absolutely perfect.

Big fan of Janelle and Paula's relationship and how it's addressed throughout the series. I also thought it was really cool how there were other directors introduced without crowding up the cast and making it confusing; they all had their roles and had a really nice balance of screentime.

And of course, the entire execution was incredibly imaginative! Especially the way Riley's reality reflected what was happening in the production studios!

Suffice it to say, I truly enjoyed this series and hope that Pixar can continue making awesome, creative things like this in the future!
