In 1897, a “mystery airship” crashed into a windmill in Aurora Texas. The crash occurred on the property of Judge Proctor.The pilot of the craft was described as petite and Martian. The body was buried in the Aurora Cemetery with a Christian burial. Allegedly a headstone with a depiction of the ship was constructed in in the days following the crash. However it is possible that it was created in the later part of the twentieth century by ufo enthusiasts.The wrecked airship was tossed down a nearby well which was eventually filled with cement in 1946. In the later half of the twentieth century, UFO enthusiasts have flocked to the cemetery to see the alien gravesite.

Weird Attractions

We’ve heard about spooky cemeteries and questionable murders this week we lighten the mood with weird attractions in Texas. From Marfa to Aurora here are a few interesting places you should visit if you’re ever in Texas. 

Museum of the Weird

If you’re interested in museums and cryptozoids then Museum of the Weird may be for you. Located in Austin, Texas this place features anything from bigfoot to UFO’s. They also have a wax museum featuring movie monsters. Alien Grave Site 

If museum tours aren’t your thing then maybe taking a small detour and stopping at a possible alien grave site will strike your fancy. On April, 19 1897 in Aurora, Texas the newspaper reports of a UFO crash. According to the article the UFO crashed through a couple of buildings before the “alien” was ejected from the ship. What locals called a small petite martian body was found at the scene and eventually buried in the Aurora Cemetery. You can still visit the grave of the alien since he’s still buried there. The headstone has since been stolen but the historical marker mentions the martian and how he’s buried there. People are still petitioning to examine the body but all requests have been denied.  Source Source Source Picture

Marfa Lights

If you’re looking to get spooked in Texas then the Marfa Lights are for you. Just outside of Marfa on Route 67 is a spot where you can view these strange lights. The first sighting was in 1957 and has been occurring off and on since then. The lights are about the size of basket balls and could be caused by a number of different things none of which have been proven. They don’t always appear but when they do they are unmistakable.  Source Source Picture

Museums, gravesites, and orbs are just a small fragment of all the places Texas has to offer. If these aren’t for you there’s always The Munster Mansion (from the TV show The Munsters) or even The Devil’s Sinkhole. It seems no matter what sort of odd things you’re into Texas seems to offer it!
