author's note: Nite talks about Dolor's essence cores and I want to touch upon that as idk that it'll get talked much beyond this point. In this story, humans are completely extinct so Nite and Daye have never met a human in their life. The "essence core" Nite refers to here is our main motors as humans, the brain and heart. Dolors can slightly adjust where their cores are located but they can't travel far from the heart/brain. Basically, if that core is destroyed, the Dolor dies. It's a bit more complicated than that but that's a whole can of worms I'm not opening right now, I fear.
