NO FURTHER INVESTIGATION, GEORGE HAS IT!!!
and lando did all that without the upgraded merc battery 🫦
notes from fp3 - austria
slow start to the session - took about 10 minutes for more than four cars to be on track
ferrari are now running their upgraded ICE in both cars, following the ADUO announcement
perez was out immediately to make up for the time he'd lost earlier in the weekend
perez chose to come into the pits and sit stationary in his box for 20 seconds to cool the tyres because it was so hot on track
tyre strategy for the race seems to be split among the top four teams, with only redbull keeping two sets of mediums and one set of hards. ferrari, mclaren and mercedes have the opposite, one set of mediums and two sets of hards
alonso still struggling with understeer as he sets laps that were three seconds off the pace. later in the session he said he "cannot turn the car so there is something wrong with the front"
valtteri went wide through t9, just about reaching the gravel
lando reported that his "left mirror is completely broken" and asked the team to "clean it out". presumably the gravel or vibrations from the kerbs had shattered the glass
verstappen struggled with "constant weird interference" on his radio throughout the session. should be fixed for qualifying
carlos went off at t9 multiple times - clearly lacking confidence to turn the car in and preferring to wash out wide and keep the car together
isack locked up and went straight on at t3 on his first soft lap of the day - later asked "what is going on in turn 1 and turn 3?" he also said, "let's stop pretending like im braking hard, the thing just locks up completely". he ended up 0.5s slower than his teammate
charles also went straight on at t3, and really seemed to struggle to get a clean push lap together
arvid was lacking "confidence with these brakes" which makes it hard to really push round the circuit, particularly through sector three
lewis locked up into t3 during the final moments of the session, and he asked the team to check the gearbox because "it said it was shifting, but [he] was in anti-stall"
perez also had a huge lock up into t3 at the end of the session, and ran so wide he nearly went all the way off the runoff and into the gravel
charles, kimi and george all trialled driving through the pits to cool their tyres before going out for their build up and push laps. it seemed to work very well, but is really only a useful strategy in q1 when they might want to make it through on only one set of tyres. it will be tricky to execute though, because they will need a pitstop-sized gap behind them
george finished the session with the fastest sector three time - where kimi was so dominant yesterday. he seems to have worked out his understeer issues and can push with confidence now
if gasly had knocked verstappen out, the way i wouldve laughedddd xd
psml at ted accusing zak of planting the 'max to mclaren' story to ruin redbull's home race
cmon george!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 bernie says the data is good for him to keep it 👀 or the lap wouldve been deleted automatically
