Aussie BBQ: Summer Night ¾ January 2017 Last night My Girl and her bf came over for a BBQ. The evening was perfect after a very hot day; warm & still. Coincidentally, The BF & I both had gut pain and severe bloating that had come on at lunchtime. Dinner didn’t make us feel any better or worse and neither of us could pinpoint a particular trigger, except maybe the mulberries we’d both eaten for breakfast. The 4.5-hour delay in symptoms and the fact that it came on during lunch suggests not. Lunch was safe. Usually if I react to a food it comes on quicker than that. I retired with a distended belly that was all painful gas.
It has diminished somewhat this morning but not altogether gone. Maybe we have a bug. Or maybe mulberries have a high fructose/sorbitol combination - they are not on my FODMAP guide but an Internet search suggested they are not high fructose (which alone doesn’t upset me anyway). When my symptoms have completely settled, I’ll try the mulberries again and see what happens.
