Haven’t done any form of sewing in 9 years and this is my attempt to get back to sewing. With the Gumeracha medieval fair coming up in May, the child wants the most elaborate ranger costume from the fighting fantasy novels he’s been borrowing from me. Figured he can be my forced excuse to see again. And its working since he will most likely give the costume to the op shop once it’s all over (that and he’s growing like there’s no tomorrow). I like the pouch but I made very mistake under the sun! These are easily corrected but my brain thought it would be an excellent idea to cut (not measure), sew all together and do it all backwards 🙃. But at least with every mistake my brain clicked 🕯 So, I’ll be making pouches and other little things like cloaks and hoods, with whatever material is left over after the medieval and Viking fairs. And if you can guess my favourite dnd class (with sub class), I’ll give away one of these dice bags when I get to making more of them. I’m sort of back, but still enjoying my time off social media. Anyway, seed sowing!! Winter is coming up and I like to start sowing seeds early to I have enough food for autumn and winter. I’ve always hated those times in between where food doesn’t seem to grow fast enough to eat so this is the solution. Next tuseday is the best time to start sowing seeds for root crops. I’ll direct sow the carrots but all other root veggies I’ll pop into trays first. Mainly because it’s going to get hot and then cold again! I can’t live without this diary!! It takes the stress of having to remember the times and phases for planting and helped me figure out other phases for planting that I didn’t even think of! Plus it also helps out with nutrition and lymphatic drainage times! Today marks Lughnasadh for some, Lammas for others, the Windy season to other witches and the Harvest season for me down here in the Southern Hemisphere. I don’t celebrate Lammas, and I no longer celebrate Lughnasa for what it is as I’ve never believed in the Irish gods, no matter how much Nan wanted me to love them, and st Mary. To me, this is the Harvest. The season of panic, watching everything I had sown during imbolc flourish and giving thanks for everything that has come and gone. Does anyone else get a sense of panic and anxiety as you start to see the light fade faster after Midsummer? Because I sure do! I’m like a squirrel trying to complete everything at once before the cold comes in. Not a fan of the cold!! Anyway... Today is so windy that it’s been perfect for cleansing, candle and soap making. Cooking everything I can possibly cook while doing all the other chores. Like set up a little feast of things from the garden and whatever else I managed to cook.
