Why is it so FUCKING HOT
This is the forecast for where I live.
34C=93F, 41C=106F
Looks like the fires won’t be going away anytime soon, which means that the air quality here will remain at hazardous levels - where it’s been for more than three weeks now. There’s no sign that we’ll have any proper rain for months yet, so between the heat and the air pollution it doesn’t look I’ll be going outside much for the foreseeable future.
I have never in my life experienced a summer as extreme as this one. I’ve never experienced this sort of smoke except when a fire was burning very close to where I lived. It used to be that I thought of 34C as being a hot day. Now it looks almost mild. And the really hot part of summer, January and February, hasn’t even got started yet.
But hey, at least it’s nothing to do with climate change because, as our glorious leaders tell us, that’s just a conspiracy theory concocted by inner city Green lunatics. (Almost direct quote from our deputy prime minister.)
Guess I’ll just have to stay inside and write. If I can get this damned chapter finished and posted before the end of the year at least that will be something.
Welcome to hell on earth (for the next 3 or so days at least)
Australia recorded its hottest-ever day on December 17 with the average maximum across the country reaching 40.9 degrees Celsius (105.62 degrees F)
