I'm Australian, and I'm also an arachnophobe. So I'm talking to my American friend (Also arachnophobe) about our terrifying experiences with spiders. And like when I say I'm scared of spiders I mean for real terrified like I will scream like I was attacked by a serial killer and when I was younger I would have mini attacks where all I could do is cry and sometimes I struggled to breathe (I don't do that anymore though I'm ok mentally :D don't know the name for it). So I felt the need to share the convo I had with my friend:
And anyways, my friend is saying like "I'm so terrified of spiders, living in Australia, you must be in constant fear of finding one 😨"
And I'm like "Yeah same! I'm absolutely petrified of all spiders, except for daddy-long-legs and Jeff"
And my friend is like "GIRL WTH?? WHO IS JEFF AND A DADDY WHAT??"
So I calmly explain that a daddy long legs is a fairly harmless/kinda friendly if your nice to it spiders that will eat all your flies for you. And then I say "Oh and Jeff is a spider that chills on the left hand side of my bathroom, he's like the size of my palm and probs venomous"
My friend is like freaking out at this point she said something like "YOU HAVE A FREAKING VENOMUS SPIDER IN YOUR BATHROOM I THOUGHT YOU WERE SCARED OF THEM"
So I say "I am? Jeff isn't bothering me like he eats the flies and chills up in the far left corner??"
"???"
To that I said "I mean if he came down any closer I'd call my brother to viciously murder him but he just stays up their so we're chill like that 😎. Me and the old spider in the left corner of my bathroom were tight his name was Jeremy he was a lil smaller than Jeff"
My friend then yelled not calmly "THERE WAS OTHER ONES??" She sounded like dumbledore in Harry Potter and the goblet of fire 😆 🤣
And I said "Yeah but then Jeff ate him or something and now he's in there"
So anyways my friend freaked out like I was the weird one. So like to people from other countries (arachnophobes specifically) is it not normal to have one chill spider you're not scared of? 🤔
and to my fellow Aussie's am I weird or do you relate to this too?? <3
