As the votes for the referendum are tallied, I just have to say how fucking ghoulish the "if you don't know, vote no" slogan is. Voting is mandatory in Australia, but you're allowed to stick in a protest ballot.

My dad's Norwegian.

He can get a little pedantic with some things. Whenever we bring up the Sami population of Norway, he protests we shouldn't say "indigenous" since technically the majority ethnic population of Norway arrived first.

(He did seem to see my point when I said that both groups arrival was so long ago that this is splitting hairs).

But he acknowledges they're a minority group that's often treated like shit. And he's as pissed off about the No Voice campaign winning as anyone. Norway has a Sami Voice to Parliament, after all.

This post doesn't have much of a point or a purpose, beyond me being deeply pissed off about the result of the referendum.
