Okay so I have a big rant about König I HAVE to share with the fandom so LISTEN UP my two humble followers

Okay so it's currently Carnival time in central Europe and I am on a short holiday in Styria. Turns out there is a traditional figure that's part of Carnival tradition in the spesific area im in called "Flinserl"(can be translated to Glitterers). These costumes are worn on shrove tuesday and passed down generations. Usually, they pass out nuts to children who can say any of the rymes attached to the tradition.

Now, um, I think you understand why my brain went to König after I looked at many pictures of these costumes.

I think you can see the similarity a bit better on the "Arbeiter Flinserl" (the worker kind that's not as fancy as instead of sequins they wear beer caps on thier costumes)

I'm not saying these traditional costumes have anything to do with a random call of duty character. What I am saying is that I like the idea that König(who I headcanon as being from Styria and I think it would be fitting if he was from Altaussee) took inspiration from these kind of masks he saw every year in his childhood(maybe he participated in the trading though I'm not sure yet as only people who are handed down the costumes can participate from what I know) when he decided to cover his own face as a mercenary. Maybe it was more subconscious, maybe not.

I know it's a bit of a stretch, and I know for sure this wasn't intentional when he was designed. It was just an idea I got obsessed with randomly.

Researching more about this tradition was difficult, and I couldn't find many English articles to link sadly as most of the information is in german. I did find this definition, and this article explains the basics of the tradition, so I already linked it above. If anyone is interested in reading about more the traditions of the area around what we call "Salzkammergut" I also found this article that breaks down this tradition and some more, such as the tradition around Perchten which are related to Krampus which is a famous Austrian tradition.

Anyway, I wanna draw König as a Flinserl now, and I might at some point if I get my current wips done(I usually don't start anything new until I'm done)

This was my rant, and if any of you actually read of this, I'm impressed.

A time for forgiveness

It was christmas eve and he knew there was a party to be attending, but he had other things to do first. This was the first time in a while he was actually doing this, his current good mood had actually made him want to celebrate christmas. But not alone this year even if it was just for a day he wanted someone to help him, the tradition was that this was a family event and though he knew he'd probably be irritating as hell, he had called Ludwig and Gilbert.   But by the sounds of the sudden call it looked like only Gilbert was coming, ludwig was ill; must have been something terrible to knock him down. Austria had hoped having Ludwig there as well would have made things easier to manage but he'd already invited Gilbert now, no taking it back. The house looked undecorated and its usual clean self. But in the main room was an undecorated and solitary tree. He wondered if Gil even remembered these traditions, it had been a while since they'd done anything together.  Around the tree were chocolate liquers and different sweets along with tinsel and electric candles to place on the tree. It was always done on chritmas eve, the others did it differently but he liked to keep things traditional if possible.  It was getting to about 4, which is when he had asked Gilbert to come, was he going to be late again? Well he'd find out. He sat down with a book and enjoyed the last few moments of quiet he would have for the rest of the day.

Happy New Year! Guten Rusch ins Neue Jahr! As it's New Year's Eve, I thought I'd share an Austria New Year's (or, Silvester) custom. I was introduced to this tradition last year by one of my English classes (thanks guys!). 

Step by step guide to Bleigießen (lead melting)

Step 1: Gather your ingredients. You'll need: 

-lead charm

-candle

-spoon that you don't mind ruining

-cup or bowl of water (for cooling off the lead)

In the photo you'll see that I had an variety of lead charms to choose from. I believe there are two different types of bottles and a four-leaf clover. 

Step 2: Place the charm in the spoon and melt it over the candle flame. 

This can take a while, but you want the lead to melt completely. Notice I chose the four-leaf clover.

Step 3: Drop melted lead into the water.

Wait until the charm is completely melted, not just partially! The lead will become solid again once it hits the water.

Step 4: Your lead should now be a new shape! Use this new shape to help you predict what the new year will bring. It's kind of like deciphering a cloud's shape; you have to REALLY use your imagination, as the new shape will most likely resemble an alien or some food that's been rotting in the back of your fridge for a bit too long. A few examples of what your lead shape could mean are:

Ball- luck will roll your way

Fish - luck (This is what I decided mine was. Do you agree?)

Ring - wedding

Ladder - promotion

Glasses - wisdom

These are just a few examples. Here's a longer list, but it's all in German. Fun tradition, huh? Unfortunately, I have no idea where to buy lead charms in the U.S., but if anyone finds out please let me know!
