I'm still working on that Diana Gabaldon anti-fic manifesto and I've rolled my eyes so much they've rolled across the floor. How are there still authors that are this ridiculous and out of touch. (I realize it was 2010, but the problem persists.) Carrying on Anne Rice's legacy, no doubt.🙄 Fanfiction isn't FOR YOU, MA'AM. Don't look for it if it disgusts you, omfg.🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I hate how much potential gansey had for a character arc and how little it was utilized. He is shown multiple times to be insensitive, to not recognise his privilege, to make offensive comments, which frankly, makes sense. He's rich and white and that affords him a lot of privilege so it makes sense for him to be that way... But he just... doesn't change?

Why, as an author who is clearly trying to contrast poverty and privilege and criticize the wealthy, would you not have him improve? It's illogical, and frustrating because of the potential that arc has. There was so much space to explore the fact that privilege doesn't always equal lack of hardship, and that you have to recognize it either way. So much of gansey's trauma around his death went unexplored. He wasn't given a chance to change, and its not only frustrating from a character perspective but also because mstief is letting these things go unaddressed and unexcused. If you write a character that way and never have them realize the extent of their privilege, you're not just writing an unfulfilling character arc but you're sending a terrible message.

All I'm gonna say is that Rick Riordan whitewashed his one of his only black main characters in the official art that's getting an animated series and turned off comments (he usually has them on) 🙃

I love the Lunar Chronicles but like,, why does Meyer not understand that you don’t Have to pair everyone together by the end of the series especially if… one of those pairings is a 16 yr old and a 20 yr old lol

hi i just wanted to ask, i read your dni and did rick/sarah etc do smth. i havent actually read any of the authors you mentioned but i wanted to make sure i dont indulge in problematic material/creators? and if its not too hard could you explain which authors? im so sorry if this inconveniences you all the love

hi! thank you for reading my dni and for expressing your concern about reading problematic material. to be honest, i won’t have all the information, so doing a google search as to why authors like rick riordan and sarah j maas are problematic will be more helpful than me. also, you can search the tumblr tags with #anti [author initials] or #[author initials] crit ! and for the future, if you are truly worried about why certain books have harmful content, then it should fall to you to search up as to why they are problematic, rather than looking to others.

also in terms of v.e. schwab and holly black, they both condone incest ships, and v.e.schwab supports the captive prince (you can look up why this is problematic). i don’t think i have to explain jkr and cc. because you should know by now :)
