Lyka carefully stepped down the stairs that lead into the gally. At the last stepped she spotted Child, sitting all the back at one the galley's tables. The human kiddo had stowaway onto the R.L.S almost a month ago and the adults still have no idea how she snuck aboard. She was tiny, and hints to her name, an actual child. The other kids said that she said she was only nine-years old and her condition when she was founded wasn't terrific. Her black hair was long and fell halfway down her back, she had longs bang that covered her left eye, skin was pale, but was splattered with dirt when she was found. Even her white clothes, a large buggy white dress shirt and dress pants, were splattered with dirt as well. Her messy condition didn't stand a chance mama (Elinor), from what she heard from papa (Andrew), she fussed over Child until she was as shiny as a gleaming pearl. Lyka glanced around the rest of the gally, she was a bit surprised that none of the other adults on the ship, or at least the few who were on the Legacy right now, not watching over Child. But she wasn't one to judge too harshly on the small subject, she was an orphan her entire life, and still technically is in some cases.
The Merfolk stepped her way over to the smaller one, at closer look she saw that Child appeared to be doodling on pieces on old scrap paper. An old looking pencil in her hand and a small smile on her face. She took a step up to Child. "Hey." Lyka gently spoke, not wanting to suddlenly scare the young one. Child looked up her paper up to Lyka, her small smile growing bigger at the sight of seeing the Merfolk. "Hello." she said happily. "Mind if I sit with ya for a moment?'' Lyka asked, pointing a finger at the bench seat. "Sure!" Child said nodding her head. Lyka took a seat next to the Child and looked over at the paper she was doodling on. "Whatcha drawing?" Lyka asked curiously. "I'm drawing me and dad!" Child exclaimed happily. A closer look at the drawing Lyka could see so far that Child had scribbled herself holding hands with dad (Cetus). "I'm going to surprise him when he and papa come back from their trip!" she explained her face beaming. Lyka smiled as she looked at the drawing. "He's gonna love it.", she said. "But I do have something to ask. Do ya think ya could do a little favor for me?'' The Merfolk looked at the little one, her smile had fell to a slight serious expression. "A favor?" Child asked looking up to the Merfolk. Lyka nodded her head. "I heard from the others that you got a really powerful skill. You have the ability to see the afterlife. You can see those who have passed away."
Child nodded her head at the Merfolk. "I can." she said "And that's why I need your help." Lyka proclaimed. "I want to know if you can see anyone that looks like me. I need to know if they're any Merfolk who I look like around me." The Merfolk exclaimed, placing a hand over her chest, her expression almost seemed desperate. Child stayed quiet for moment. She looked around at the space between Lyka before looking back at her and answering. "...Are you sure?" Child asked. "I don't have anything to lose, not that I could lose anything at this point.'' Lyka stated. For another moment, Child stayed quiet before nodding her head. "...Okay." Lyka waited for an answer, not wanting to rush the poor girl. Sometimes seeing a dead man walking can really drag the air out of someone. Finally, the younger one spoke up. "I...I don't see anybody that looks like you." The young girl's face had fallen to a sadden look. Lyka's own expression soon dropped. Her serious look had fallen to a look of dismay. "Y-You don't see anyone? Nobody? No one at all?" Lyka asked, her voice almost breaking. She looked to the girl, hoping that she would give a different answer. But Child only nodding her head, her own expression upset as well. " I don't...I just see these really big sharks that are this big." Child explained, stretching her arms as far as she could to emphasize to the other. "Their eyes are really far part and they're circling around you a lot."
Hammerhead Sharks. She must be referring to the ones back from her home planet. They must've been the ones of the Shiver that she used to hang around with before leaving home. Lyka looked away from the girl, gathering her thoughts before taking a deep in through her nostrils and letting it out. She looked down at the younger one, her expression was almost heartbroken, but she forced a small smile over her lips. "That's all I needed to hear. Thank you for telling me." Lyka said. She lifted her hand and lightly patted the top of Child's head. "You can go back to drawing. I just needed to make sure." With that, Lyka got up from her sit and made her way to the gally stairs. Child watched as the Merfolk left, her expression worried her the older one.
