Not anyone with training and a certificate will do. It also of little importance how many they can boast of in their portolio (or congregation). Ultimately, the question is - are you going in the same direction. Do they know and understand where you are trying to go and do they know how and have the resources to get you there? The other thing you should watch out for are TOXIC editors. Just like toxic pastors, their desire is to keep you under their control and continually reliant on them. They don't desire your growth and independence, but desire to feed off you continually. A good editor is like a good pastor. Their aim is for you to no longer need them. You see, leaders groom leaders. Pastors train up able ministers. Editors mentor bestselling, confident writers.
