I'm always glad when I can attribute a symptom to a mental illness/neurodivergence, because I hate having free floating shit that does me harm. Having multiple neurodivergences is sort of like sticking together two pieces of clay, like red and green, and because your brain isn't split evenly you always end up with brown pieces you can't decide whether it's really red or green. (It gets twice as fun when you add physical illness with psychological symptoms in. Am I tired because I'm depressed? Overstimulated? Flaring?)
Like the guilt thing, knowing that's a bipolar thing helps me quantify it, deal with it. Being able to feel guilt bubble up and know it's just bipolar acting up makes it SO much easier to handle than scrambling around trying to figure it out. Because that's exhausting and ultimately fruitless. I can now dismiss it, and not in the sort of way that can bubble up again, but definitively. "There's no reason to feel guilty, you've done nothing wrong, this is a part of being bipolar." And then there's no other reason to dwell on it.
I'm not even sure if this makes any sense, but hey, at least I managed to write it down ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
