My daughter shared something beautiful with me tonight ... She's been seeing Leo alone in the playground at school. It didn't sit well with her and I'm sure she's been feeling this way for quite some time, so she decided to invite him over where she played. . . It took some convincing - she said he didn't have to play with them because she knew it was out of his comfort zone, but offered for him to sit and watch. Leo finally accepted at one point and sat near by . . She felt so happy when he did and continued to invite him, sometimes getting a yes or a no. She persisted regardless. . . Tonight she told me that today Leo came without invitation, sat near by and read a book . . "I want him to know what school really feels like, because being alone isn't what school is about" - Serena M . . How incredible to see a 9 year old opening up a door for a child with Autism. It took patience, understanding, compassion and persistence. She's not yet aware of the significance of her actions, but we can all certainly follow them. . . Let's open up doors .... 🚪 . . #mylittlespartan #autismfamily #autismsiblings #autismsiblinglove #autismsiblingsrock #autismmom #ourlifewithautism #autismacceptance #autismawareness #autismwarrior #neurodiversity #family #siblinglove #aintnohoodlikemotherhood #mentalhealthawareness #autismlife #autismlove #autismrocks #autismtruth https://www.instagram.com/p/B2T1vAfght-/?igshid=1ey53ebmxql23
