Ruby: *Tearing up* I'm feeling- everythings been loud, and Bright, and I'm being overwhelmed-

Penny: Here are a set of Ear Muffs, they should help with the noise. While you wear them please try to match your breathing with my own.

Penny: You could try placing your head either on my shoulder or lap and feel the expansion and compression of my lungs.

Ruby: Okay- okay *Swallows* I-I can do that.

Penny: *Humming, rubbing small circles into Ruby's back*

Ruby: *Sleeping peacefully on Penny's lap*

Ruby is high-masking autistic.

As Sarina, she had practically no close friends (if we don't count her doctor), and her hyperfixation with idols became her whole world. Post-reincarnation, we continue to see this side of her when she's very young, having basically an otaku personality. But as she gets older and makes new friends with girls close to her in age, this obsessive side to her recedes a bit. She's still mad about idols and becoming one herself, but she presents in a way that's more socially acceptable, rather than the unabashed simping she did when she was younger.

It can be a double-edged sword. It's definitely easier for her to make and maintain friendships this way, which is something she's grateful for, but sometimes she struggles to open up about concerns or things that are important to her, feeling like other people wouldn't understand her perspective.

Anon did you read my mind or smthng because I was just thinkin’ about this a few days back.

The answer is yes, but it’ll probably start up with a new version of ‘Days’! I want to upload it to AO3 but it’s Old and Could Do With Some Work, so that’s first on my list. After that, I actually have the start of a sequel called ‘Mornings’. It needs to get rewritten/finished up before it’s ready for posting, but I’m not sure how long that’ll take? Currently I have Other Fic(tm) currently taking up the vast majority of my attention, one of which is back on a weekly update schedule (you can read about those on my RWBY blog, @faunusrights).

So long story short? God yes. ‘Days’ is still getting notes three years later and I know people really loved it, so I’d like to make a new edition that’s a bit more polished before I start working on sequels/prequels. Thanks for your interest though! B))
