So, I kind of binged the ending of TOL since the GMMTV blackout made me want to rewatch all my favorites again. However, I think my browser must have tried to auto-translate the description box in the episode. And I desperately must share some excerpts of the translated synopsis of TOL:

That's why I've read so far of the novels these shows are based on. Because, often, even the one that start out being translated by hand turn into ones that are machine translated and suddenly nothing makes sense.

I knew that Google Translate was very insistent that people are bound to their wheelchairs in English.

No matter what equivalent term it encounters, it will render that as "wheelchair bound".

Where "bunden" is indeed cognate with "bound", but "buren" is more like "borne".

And also preferred Swedish usage, apparently for decades now. I must say I far prefer the idea of being borne by the chair like a chariot, than being tied to it! (Even in a consensually kinky way, though that may well be someone else's idea of fun! 😅 Main context where it might be remotely appropriate.)

Anyway, I was still startled when I had autotranslate on because my brain was tired, and I ran across this gem! 😳
