Do Victim and the other mercenaries notice Agent acting weird? Any of them suspicious on what’s going on?

yes. yes they're so worried. something's wrong with their friend/partner/relative...

victim: they're worried he's going through something... he's not getting enough sleep. his memory isn't as good, literally walking around at night, seeming to be completely awake, only to have no memory of it in the morning... and also. becoming more quiet.. reserved. not leaving his quarters as much... they asked him once if he was okay and he said he was, was just having sleep troubles but they just KNOW something is wrong. he's not okay...

Ballista: it's very worried. this is not like him at ALL... and it knows him. it's known him for YEARS, the longest out of all of them. fyi they're cousins in my hc, and Pivot kind of raised it in a way.. so. yk. also that thing is like 13-14. so.

Primal: also very worried.. they don't know him as much as vic and Ballista do, but still... he's refusing nights out when normally he'd accept, acting odd around everyone... seeming to hide behind his glasses more than usual, and even while his resting face is a frown, there's something... different about it, now... seeming more. lost in thought. distracted...

Sign: admittedly the least worried out of them all. is just there for the job, that's it... and Pivot said it was something personal, so who is he to pry? just suggests maybe talking to someone about it, since it's clearly eating away at him...

but they have no idea what's actually going on. they just think he's going through something. which is true! he is VERY going through something right now... just not what they'd expect. and he hates every second of it

Before Pivot learns who he is, he might mention having people back home that he needs to get back to (the computer sticks) and that he's worried about them. Pivot would be able to feel his genuine care and concern for them.

Then Pivot learns who he is. He knows Alan was telling the truth about caring about those kids, and maybe Alan even said when he got them (years after the incident) but if he could change for them then why couldn't he have changed for victim?

At least the misunderstanding that Alan was working with Chosen during those attacks can be cleared up!

If Alan didn't even know about the attacks and this is how he learns, that could be interesting. Cause he's definitely gonna blame himself even if he wasn't directly involved because he still created Chosen and messed them up.

due to the time period this takes place in, the worry of him having taken part in the attacks is still there (vic is paranoid and has trauma), but is unfounded. and honestly, Pivot wouldn't. trust Alan if he said he wasn't part of the attacks– sure he. never saw the cursor there but.. but still.

and yeah, i imagined he. never really had any idea about the attacks.. otherwise he'd have been. a lot less likely to help Chosen out in the Showdown... and yeah. he would SO blame himself.. his fault, even if indirectly...

Pivot can just. feel the guilt bleeding into him. normally he doesn't really feel anything from Alan, but... this is just. too strong. and he can't help but feel like some of it is his own...

(it is. he always feels guilty when talking about the attacks..)

Alan might try to interact less and just hide after that. He knows that Pivot hates him now and he can't really blame him for that. The most he can do now is try to avoid reminding Pivot of his presence by doing nothing.

Doesn't work because Pivot can feel the constant shame and regret from him. Pivot hates it so much. How could someone do something so monstrous and only realize later how messed up it was? Couldn't he have regretted it sooner?

But he can't do anything about it, not without great risk to himself.

yeah... he does that. doesn't want to bother Pivot more than he already is... doesn't want to be here at all, and he knows Pivot doesn't want him there either...

and Pivot DOES hate it so much... cause not only can he feel the guilt and the such, but... it bleeds into his own feelings, if it's strong enough... which it Is... especially when Pivot is with vic...

you'd be upset if your partner was being tortured by something that never even realized they were alive until years later, too.

Pivot might also be angry at Alan like "you're the one that tortured and traumatized my boss/friend?!?What the fuck?!?"

And he feels a very intense wave of shame and remorse from Alan.

yeah probably... probably also angry. he probably. almost went and just told vic, but then Alan stopped him like 'no nonono please don't you know what he'll do to me'

To which Pivot would just scowl.. don't use my own fucking voice. i don't want to hear it.

And he'd feel himself flinch, and then his mouth move on its own– voice tearful and shaking–

"If you turn me in, those same things will happen to you. please don't"

...

and that would make him pause.

'cause... that sounds plausible. that sounds like it could actually happen.

and only then, would he get Scared.

How do Alan and Pivot communicate?

can't communicate mentally with each other, but can feel each other's emotions...

usually just by writing, or by talking to each other verbally. if they're around people then one will maybe just very discreetly try to mouth something with a closed mouth and hope the other gets the idea. but mostly they just shut up when around others
