Let’s chat about why these series are important. While black people have been making strides in beauty there is still so much more work to be done. I came across a tweet about a black woman feeling defeated and less than because her “friend” whom was getting married told her she could no longer be part of her bridal party because her dark complexion would clash the bridesmaids’ dresses. For every black person you see modeling in print, there’s at least 2 stories like this. More so if you have a deep/rich complexion. Obviously, I’m not the darkest skinned individual walking but I felt deeply compelled to show the beauty in our diversity. That we not only set the trends, but are the most imitated group...ever. So beautiful, worthy, and chrished black woman/man/person, wear that colorful makeup and hair. Rock them long ass nails. Get that tattoo. Flaunt that grill. Lay tf outta those baby hairs. It’s not ghetto or unacceptable, its ours💖 People are are gonna hate it regardless (as seen in the last few slides) but what they call you doesn’t matter, it’s what you answer to that does.
