I love when people include Kavik in the "avatar's love interests" line up because he actually doesn't technically date Yangchen? In the books at least. It's like the opposite of queerbaiting. They're Straightbaiting.

Does Yangchen have several internal monologues about how handsome she thinks Kavik is? Yes. Does she internally mull over how smart and skilled he is just as many times? Yes. Does Kavik get confused as the avatar's lover by various other characters? Yes. Does one of their plans include letting people think they're secretly dating? Yes.
