Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I personally prefer when Kyoshi still has a more respected/higher earning job than Rangi in essentially any AU unless the point of that AU is specifically to twist that expectation or if it's then at a younger age.

I just feel like it is actually quite important for their dynamic that Kyoshi is the one who is publicly known and idealized or in some cases demonized.

Them on that Iceberg and Rangi thinks Kyoshi is drunk because she found Kyoshi smelling like alcohol and planking face down in front of her tent and had to drag her into the tent

Meanwhile Kyoshi is stone cold sober and just freaked out a little that she choked a guy out without hesitation, and then spilled his wine and kept the bottle and also she might be the Avatar and her mentor is a mass murderer and she is just feeling weird. Not to mention she’s probably gonna be fired any day now.

So Rangi thinks Kyoshi is like black out, can’t tend to herself drunk. Rangi starts undressing in front of Kyoshi for the first time ever and Kyoshi becomes very distractsd by this. Like she is describing the way Rangi breaths distracted. Kyoshi is also trying to avoid considering her past and anything about herself, so she starts trying to comfort Rangi about the scene that just happened with Tagaka. Rangi, who thinks Kyoshi is extremely drunk, sorta breaks down and gets vulnerable and reveals some of her angsty mommy issues and then cuddles up next to Kyoshi because they’re sharing a tent. Rangi is a very warm Firebender and they’re sleeping on an iceberg so Kyoshi obviously is going to get close but then Rangi gets too close and spoons with Kyoshi and full on falls asleep on top of Kyoshi’s arm while Kyoshi is also eating her hair. Kyoshi then spends the rest of the night thinking about how Fire Nation royals don’t let people touch their hair while she is basically chewing on Rangi’s top knot and she is also refusing to move because Rangi very quickly fell asleep on top of her arm

And it’s important to remember, that Rangi is getting all vulnerably and cuddly because she probably assumes Kyoshi is not going to remember any of this in the morning while Kyoshi is like “maybe my arm won’t be fully dead by the time Rangi wakes up and gets off it” because she’s not going to stop holding Rangi obviously because what if she realized she had definitely accidentally cuddled up to Kyoshi and stopped cuddling with her
