im all for diversity and representation but like... if u don’t kno how to write lgbt / poc / disabled / etc. characters and ur not willing to put in the fucking work ... then just don’t write them like i would honestly rather authors just stick to what they know and not put out complete garbage stuff in the world .... like representation doesn’t mean shit if it’s bad ? like i don’t want ur interracial relationships if theyre racist... i don’t want ur gay characters if they perpetrate harmful stereotypes and used as a punchline or whatevs...i dont want characters of color unless theyre written well . like honestly i feel like authors of color , queer authors , what have you , come from a place of deep understanding and knowledge of what it means to _____ . like of course anyone can write whatever but like don’t do it unless ur really gonna commit to it and it’s coming from a good place ya know...

but really any of Ven's romances have it so bad.       like they have the worst time being in love / being loved by Ven.        I mean they get treated like they are his entire world , like queens & kings.         and then they have to deal with his constant protective crap.        like him making sure they sleep well , they eat healthy , they are taken care of. to top that off he will actually KILL and DIE for them.        not to mention if anything sexual ever happens he always focus on their pleasure first.        and worst of fucking all they wake up sometimes to a giant black dire wolf in their bed , hanging off half of it because he's too fucking big & just trying to keep his babe warm.       like good fucking gosh healthy relationship with Venari Ferah is the worst fucking thing.

everyone’s  always  like  why  does  he  have  such  a  stick  up  his  ass  all  the  time,    why  won’t  he  ever  just  chill  out 

HE’S  TOO  BUSY  KEEPING  EVERYONE’S  ASS  ALIVE  THAT’S  WHY   idk  how  many  times  he’s  saved  everyone’s  ass  in  the  books  &  im  too  tired  to  list  specific  examples  but  he’s  done  a  lot.      one  thing  i  will  say  is  that  a  lot  of  the  time  when  he’s  complaining  or  voicing  suspicion  it’s  over  VERY  VALID  CONCERNS  THAT  NO  ONE  ELSE  BOTHERS  TO  THINK  ABOUT  &  it  exhausts  me  that  no  one  ever  really  acknowledges  that.

but  yeah  honestly  his  desire  to  protect   &   shield  people,   especially  his  loved  ones,   is  so  embedded  in  who  he  is.      it’s  part  of  the  very  core  of  his  identity   &   it  comes  naturally  being  the  older  brother.      he’s  so  protective  over  isabelle   &   jace  all  the  time  but  definitely  when  they’re  outside  of  the  institute  on  hunts,  in  battle  etc.      max  as  well   BUT  unlike  the  three  of  them  max  was  young   &   w/  their  parents  the  majority  of  the  time  so  he  never  expected  his  baby  brother  to  be  near  any  sort  of  danger   /   end  up  getting  killed  so  i  don’t  think  he  was  quite  as  worried  about  him…  like  he  was  but  i  think  he  felt  he  wouldn’t  have  to  start  worrying  about  max’s  safety  until  he  got  older  &  began  his  training  but  u  know  he  never  did  !!!!

IM  SAD  ANYWAYS  the  point  is  i  truly  believe  the  reason  he’s  so  protective  stems  from  how  all  they  had  was  each  other  growing  up.      i  mean  like  it  was  literally  just  alec,  izzy  &  jace.      they  were  his  only  friends,   the  only  people  he  truly  trusted   /   loved  for  the  first  18  years  of  his  life.     also  i  think  they’re  the  only  two  people  he  could  comfortably  be  himself  around  without  the  fear  of  disappointing  them  or  not  reaching  the  high  standards   /   expectations  he  felt  he  had  to  live  up  to.

anyways,   he  protects  them  because  that’s  one  of  the  sure  ways  he  knows  how  to  express  his  love.    it’s  the  one  way  he  can  feel  useful  or  important,   because  compared  to  the  other  two   (   aka  the  two  best  shadowhunters  of  their  generation   )    he’s  always  been  overlooked   (  NOT  by  izzy  or  jace  but  their  parents   &   everyone  else   )    so  the  only  thing  he  feels  he’s  good  for  or  more  so  he  feels  his  self  worth   &   importance  is  reliant  on  how  he’s  able  to  protect  people.      it’s  what  he’s  good  at. 

also  i  guess  i  could  add  that  him  wanting  to  protect  everyone  also  comes  from  maryse   &   robert  instilling  such  a  sense  of  responsibility  /  duty  in  him  at  such  a  young  age.      the  clave  probably  kept  a  close  eye  on  them  at  the  start  of  their  exile  so  their  parents  most  likely  wanted  to  prove  they  were  still  loyal   &   behaving  by  raising  their  eldest  to  be  as  loyal  and  close  to  the  ideals  of  what  the  clave  upholds  as  a  way  to  make  up  for  their  mistakes  so  u  know  he  also  shoulders  the  responsibility  &   burden  of  making  sure  the  others  are  okay  because  of  the  high  expectations  he  felt  his  parents  placed  on  him   &   he  wanted  to  make  them  proud.

.ANYWAYS  THIS  GOT  LONG   &   IDEK  IF  I  ACTUALLY  ANSWERED  WHAT  U  SAID  LMAO  BUT HE’S  A  GOOD  BROTHER.  he  would   &   has  done  anything   &   everything  for  his  siblings.   he's  the  protector   /   healer   /   cautious  one  outta  the  three  of  them  so  izzy   &   jace  can  kick  ass  without  the  worry  or  need  to  hold  back.   he’s  very  much  content  to  stay  in  the  background,   let  the  other  two  shine,   yet  never  failing  to  have  their  back  when  they  do  need  him.
