emprise du lion did not hold the same childhood memories the emerald graves did. it was bitter , cold , hostile. his job was to protect the soldiers , to keep a watchful eye on the inquisitor from above. to deal with the RED in a softer way to avoid more loss. his body was built for the snow storm , the bite to his nose. IT WAS THE LONELINESS that made it inhospitable. the call to return to skyhold filled his chest with a lightness he had not felt in a very long time. it was like a cup of sweet blossom ale being poured after a long day , it left him with a clearer mind and a feeling of release. ——— how long had he served ? when did he decide he would put his life on the line for mortal beings. when did he fall in love with one ? ( so madly , so deeply. ). it made him stop and think beyond himself every action was done more carefully , every word that slipped from his lips more calculated for everyone's sake.
upon Hycis` return to his arm he ruffled his feathers before the boy begun to unravel the note from his claws. full orders to return. they needed him back home. a keep that touched the sky , reached out towards it and allowed the mortals feel like gods. he gave a sharp exhale , both relieved and of utter exhaustion. ——— he was strong , very strong but it took so much effort to not turn , to not allow his emotions to take over , to act HUMAN. he didn't need to , THE INQUISITION knew of his species & gifts after the fall of haven. that didn't stop the test , being held behind bars for mages to poke and prod , to make sure he was SAFE. it took even more time for his HANDLER to gain trust. funny considering the ending . shared touches , rough kisses as bodies pressed against the doors and walls of every junction they could have found.
fingers intertwined in gold locks as he brought his form to PRESS CLOSER to the gentle warmth. he never thought he'd fall for a human being. but . . . he did , his instructor , he's handler , his commander no less. silver gaze shifted to the beating waters as they returned. it was better than the first travel. broken bones and a giant black mass of fur collapsing in front of the newly appointed inquisitor and their most trusted. A BEAST that was to be hunted ended up gaining a place in saving the world. funny considering HE DIDN'T CARE. he was immortal , he would always live even as the ground all around him burned. he fought because their enemy annoyed him — almost as annoying as the enemy that stood underneath their walls.
he kept his silence . . . maybe a mistake on his part. but that wasn't his business to know what another similar to his kind was up to. hand pressed to oak finally making it up the large steps and through the chattering halls. he had a look of ANNOYANCE. they all moved out of his way , did not stop him. he had a desperate need his own addiction to fill. one let go of their addictions while the other became lusted. foolish wolf. the door quickly slammed open , thudding against the cobble. not here , out of the reach dealing with his own work. gaze narrowing at the scout that was as his fangs bared. ❛ leave ❜ voice rustic & cold , ANIMALISTIC. fearful the papers were pushed into his chest & he kicked the door shut.
sinking into the chair he had grown familiar with , in front of the desk he was all to close to. both holding a certain . . . sturdiness after all. lips twisted as legs extended to rest across the table leaning back as he went through the files. rotations , plans , even a letter from the almighty leader themself. he put that to the side , not for his eyes. head dipping back to rest on the cushioned headrest , lids falling closed. how much he had fallen from the GREAT & MIGHTY PRINCE he once was , how waiting like a puppy for the hand that fed him. oh had he come to love that hand. he would die & kill for it , tear down the walls of the entire empire if he told him to.
