Need me a 2012 tower era avengers ot6/polyavengers fic where the other five are hopelessly in love with Tony, but because they’re all awkward idiots, he thinks they hate him/only tolerate him for what he can give them/all the other Tony angst tropes we know and love, while also slowly falling for each of them
- Thor keeps trying to fight Tony because that’s how you seduce someone in Asgard
- Nat keeps staring at him and he thinks it’s creepy but she’s just admiring his stupid pretty face
- Clint keeps playing pranks on him
- Steve keeps doing the classic chivalry shit like opening the door for him which Tony finds patronizing while Steve thinks he’s being sweet
- Bruce spends time with Tony in the lab so Tony is pretty sure Bruce doesn’t actively hate him, but Tony also thinks that Bruce doesn’t really like him because he also kinda avoids Tony, but only because he doesn’t want Hulk to hurt him
And then Tony gets captured, and he thinks that no one will come for him, or that they’ll take their time and only want him back once their gear needs fixing. He is wrong. Within the hour (but not until after some delicious torture hehe) the avengers are busting in and raining fury down on this scum who dared to hurt their Tony.
In the aftermath, Tony cracks to joke about how oh wow they must’ve broken something really bad if they were willing to give up their peace and quiet so soon, and the avengers just look at him, and finally see. They see all the hurt Tony’s been keeping in, and set the record straight. One by one, they each slowly confess their true feelings, and Tony just sits there stunned while he listens.
And they all hold their breath, waiting for Tony’s decision. Tony can’t choose, he loves them all, and says as much, wrestling with the choice, fresh off being held captive and then being rescued when he thought he wouldn’t be, frankly he’s way too frazzled.
The teams sleeps on it, and in the morning, it’s Thor who suggests they just… share Tony. On Asgard, he explains, the idea of two people in a static and exclusive relationship is much more uncommon due to Asgardians’ long lifespans, and he knows that such an arrangement would go against Midgardian custom, but perhaps everyone would benefit if they all agreed to forsake jealousy and share Tony.
Tony is more than amenable. He’s never been the monogamous type, and if the team is okay with it, he’s got enough love to go around, especially now that he’s gotten the message that he’s cherished and adored by the team. The team, for their part, is just glad they get to be with Tony at all. They all had their reasons for thinking that Tony could never love them, and so to be with him feels unreal, but amazing.
And then Bruce and Thor start going out, Natasha, Clint, and Steve start hooking up, and the next thing they know the Avengers are one big pile of love and cuddles THE END!
