if anyone asks me why i think backstitching is the devil, i'll tell them it made me put this project on hold for over a year when 1) i thought it would be relatively simple, and 2) it was one of the projects i was looking forward to the most 🙃

it's the end of 2024, and if there's one thing i am thankful for.. it's cross stitch!
i officially took up cross stitching towards the end of july. i bought a kit that came with all threads to do the ladybird (top left), as well as a book with 11 other patterns in it. the hydrangea, the poppy, the peacock butterfly and the bee all came from that book (and as a completionist i will be doing the other seven patterns; i'm currently doing the dandelion but it's on hold due to the amount of backstitching lol). the two robins came from two separate magazines, the second one being crossstitcher.
this is just a select few of the works i've done, i've done so many more from other patterns these past few months 😭 it started as a small thing to keep myself busy, and now it's spawned into a hobby i am very much passionate about. ah, fibrecrafts 🥲
i'm currently experimenting with making my own patterns from a limited palette of ten randomised colours spun from a wheel 😅 it's really helped me flex my creative muscles and is also a good stash buster for all the extra thread i've accrued!

i can't believe it's already been basically a year since this movie was released .. anywho cross stitch of the saja boys logo! 14 count black aida with dmc b5200 and 600; i also did the huntrix logo but i don't have a good picture of that at the moment ..
merry christmas, and happy holidays to those who don't celebrate!🎄 here's a design i made from a kit last year, i didn't get to make any new xmas kits this year;🥲
here's to more stitching in 2026!🎆
oh my god it's finally done i am finally out of the temperature chart cave;🥲
for those that are curious, the top line of each month are the max. temps, and the bottom line of each month are the min. temps; yes i did each individual day, charted horizontally and separated by the outlines; so all in all, eight stitches per day, four for each set of temperatures;
the temperatures didn't go above the 31-33C range, however i made the range that high because i have personally experienced temps close to that, so i couldn't rule it out as a possibility; didn't happen of course, but it's there for prosperity;🙂↕️
so i took the picture on the far left back in september 2021, and it quickly became my favourite photo i have ever taken - i even have it on canvas now; when i got into cross-stitching last year, i decided i also wanted to make a cross-stitch design out of it - i asked my lovely friend, @applejongho, to remove the background, threw the photo into flosscross on black aida, changed a few details and.. voilà!
i started this on 10th august 2025, and as of 10th november 2025, have completed 1900/8790 stitches;😅
happy halloween!🐈⬛🕷️

i tweaked the shadows so you couldn't see my reflection while taking the photo lmao.. but this is my attempt at cross-stitching the infamous laser detergent power ups from one of my favourite childhood games: rayman 3!
original pattern, inspired by the game's designs. each can has an icon underneath representing what each power up does. (left to right: the vortex, heavy metal fist, lockjaw, shock rocket, throttle copter.)
in the words of globox: "enough with costumes already, we gotta get to the doctors!"
