i mainly work on 14 count aida with dmc thread. cross-stitcher since july 2024. i don't loathe french knots .. back-stitching is the real devil.
i will try and credit all patterns to the best of my ability. original pattern novice.
excuse any poor lighting in pictures, i am not a professional photographer 🙃
i'm changing the background colour occasionally, and the title represents the colour it's closest to - i use this website to get the closest hex codes;
from a pattern - projects i've completed from pre-existing patterns
original pattern - projects i've completed from patterns i've made
ramble ave. - talking posts
project in progress - wip pictures and notes
fellow stitchers - works by other cross-stitchers
see under the cut for questions no one asked!
why did i get into cross-stitch?
i needed something to keep me busy that wasn't just scrolling on my phone; now i do often listen to music or videos while i'm stitching, but that's the more passive part of the activity, it's just some background noise. i've never been an arts and crafts person, it's just never been my forté, but i learned how to do cross-stitch as a child from my nan. it's the only sort of craft where i've really found my feet;🥲
wait .. you don't loathe french knots?
nah, not really lol; i 100% understand why people hate them though - the second ever pattern i did called for multiple french knots and i thought i was going to lose my mind (and i kinda did), but once i got the hang of it it wasn't the worst thing ever for me; that being said, i will absolutely go out of my way to do as few as possible if a pattern calls for them lmao - after a while, the process becomes grating;
back-stitching is the devil?
YES, YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES. i don't know if it's that it often calls for one thread and thus can be really annoying, or if it somehow feels like it takes up more time, but the minute i see a pattern calls for back-stitching, especially if it's intricate, i thoroughly dread it; i begrudgingly respect and am mildly infuriated at how beautiful the effect is though;🥲 it truly pulls the whole project together; (i am exaggerating a little, back-stitching isn't really the devil.. or is it?)
i can't believe it's already been basically a year since this movie was released .. anywho cross stitch of the saja boys logo! 14 count black aida with dmc b5200 and 600; i also did the huntrix logo but i don't have a good picture of that at the moment ..
oh my god it's finally done i am finally out of the temperature chart cave;🥲
for those that are curious, the top line of each month are the max. temps, and the bottom line of each month are the min. temps; yes i did each individual day, charted horizontally and separated by the outlines; so all in all, eight stitches per day, four for each set of temperatures;
the temperatures didn't go above the 31-33C range, however i made the range that high because i have personally experienced temps close to that, so i couldn't rule it out as a possibility; didn't happen of course, but it's there for prosperity;🙂↕️
merry christmas, and happy holidays to those who don't celebrate!🎄 here's a design i made from a kit last year, i didn't get to make any new xmas kits this year;🥲
if anyone asks me why i think backstitching is the devil, i'll tell them it made me put this project on hold for over a year when 1) i thought it would be relatively simple, and 2) it was one of the projects i was looking forward to the most 🙃
i added the cobwebs in 3799 thread, then instead of french knots did pink sequins; i realised at some point what mistake i had made (the letter 'c' in 'club' is slightly off), but i am genuinely happy with how this turned out!
so i took the picture on the far left back in september 2021, and it quickly became my favourite photo i have ever taken - i even have it on canvas now; when i got into cross-stitching last year, i decided i also wanted to make a cross-stitch design out of it - i asked my lovely friend, @applejongho, to remove the background, threw the photo into flosscross on black aida, changed a few details and.. voilà!
i started this on 10th august 2025, and as of 10th november 2025, have completed 1900/8790 stitches;😅
Baby's first cross stitch, now with the matt, frame, and all the details finally, finally done. The last image is to show the slight bubble of the tv screen
on the first post i ever made about cross-stitch, on my main blog, i showed some projects i had done from the same pattern book (the dandelion is still in progress lmao); the dragonfly itself i completed on the 5th august, but i added extra details not shown here, so i could give it to my friend as a birthday gift;☺️
