Avery is actually not that into chocolate, but she ends up making a lot of chocolate things because it’s the almost universal popular flavor. She prefers fruit flavors, especially citrus.

She doesn’t mind these kinds of questions. If being besties with Wren taught her anything, it’s that these are the most crucial questions. Still, as discretion is the better part of valor, she waits until Säde rounds onto Cadogan for a report before she picks up her phone.

Helena

✿ - something that never fails to make her happy - that moment when she steps over the threshold and she’s home. In university, it’s those few times when she gets back to New Orleans, in adulthood (depending on the AU) it’s when she gets to Mac’s place or, you know. The Oval Office.

❂ - something she feels strongly about - Helena is completely unsurprisingly a super feminist. You try trampling her rights (or someone else’s) and she will go all lioness on you. She doesn’t consider herself radical, though that’s mostly because her political ambition prevents her from attaching a label that she thinks could cost her her future.

♫ - one of her favorite pasttimes - Let’s go with the more unexpected one. No one’s surprised that Helena enjoys red wine, foreign firms, and old books. Slightly more unusual is her complete obsession with playing Rock Band.

♡ - how she handles stressful events - Not all that well, in recent years; she mostly buckles down and works through it until the problem is solved or she’s passed out at her desk. She used to have more strategies for it, primarily yoga and playing music, but both fell by the wayside. In all likelihood, once Meredith is part of her life, she has the impetus to pick them up again.

☣ - something that makes her uncomfortable - To this day, it’s the whispers. She’s always been good at pretending she didn’t give a damn about what people thought about her, but truthfully it was always more important than it should be. Avery feels uncomfortable when she feels judged.

♥ - her happiest memory - practicing fencing in the garden with her dad. Her dad is very much not into swords, he’s so much of a pacifist that he refused to pick anything up when they arrived in the Deck, but Avery was enamored with them, so he helped her learn (before discovering that Ceiro Ryan would be a better teacher and getting her lessons/practice with him)

Thalia 

✈ - one of her greatest fears - Automobiles. Seriously, do you know how many car accidents there are every year? She refuses to get in a running vehicle, though she will sit in one that’s off if it’s flashy enough.

☁ - one of her earliest memories - sitting on the counter in her dad’s bookstore (now her bookstore) entertaining customers with giant whoppers/tall tales

❂ - something she feels strongly about - expression. She feels like people are generally too repressed, and it leads to misunderstandings that could be avoidfed if they were to just be themselves instead of what they’re meant to be.

Avery to Julien (Hogwarts probably): "I am in love with you - there, I said it."

He can’t help but stare. It’s got to be a joke, doesn’t it?

Then again, a joke would be more likely if there was a crowd. So then the staring turns into a hesitation, as if expecting a group of Hufflepuffs to magically appear and laugh at him for even momentarily considering that Avery might be serious.

No crowd is forthcoming, and she’s still waiting, probably expecting him to laugh at her.But he’s got no words coming to mind and it just…doesn’t seem like a laughing matter. He may also be ignoring the spark of warmth that flared to life in his chest at her words.

It’s easiest to heap scorn into his tone, “funny way you have of showing it, Hamilton.” He lifts a shoulder slightly, more to indicate the still-healing scar that’s there under his clothes after a particularly competitive Quidditch match. And with that, he spins on his heel, ready to escape before she can say anything else.

It had been a long day. Longer, Avery figured, then when her days had begun at four a.m. and gone well into the night - the hazard of running the kitchens had been that she’d had to be there to start the morning bread, and she’d also had to be there until the last sparkling Diamond finally fucked off and left the party and went to bed.

The hazard of being the Ace was that you never really went to bed.

She’d dozed off on top of a pile of unfinished press releases (Serena’s grammar left a lot to be desired, frankly) and she sat bold upright in her kitchen, cracking her spine against the tiled back of one of her adorable kitchen chairs. There was a purchase she wasn’t making a second time.

When the phone immediately rang, she rubbed her back and picked it up.

"That’s not cool," she said into the phone. "I think it’s been months since I let either one down. You’re just taunting me. And as aside, Lucas, really. Just how drunk do you have to be to use the word panties in a sentence?”
