"Okay so some of them burned a little, but that's okay we can just dig those into some ice cream later. Cover up the taste of burnt." Marcus said, pulling out the tray of cookies from the oven.

Avery went to pick up one of the not burnt ones and broke it in half, holding out the other half to Rose. She dunked her half into her mug of hot chocolate that had been made earlier that evening and was set at a low simmer on the stove, ready for any of them to refill their mug at any time.

”How's business been going?“ Avery asked as she took a sip of her drink and held the other cup out to Rose, having gone over to grab her something. ”It still amazes me how talented you are at all of this. I get a besties discount, right?“ she added the last bit with a smirk.

“Is this one on me this time?” Avery asked as she spotted the familiar face at the booth, both still waiting in line, which was luckily moving fairly quickly. She reached into the little bag in her hand to pop some of the candied nuts. ”Snack?“ she asked, holding the bag out so that the mouth of it was towards Hawk for easy access.

"come here" Avery motioned for Arty to come over to where she was, motioning for him to turn around, before proceeding to tuck the tag that was sticking up out of his shirt back in. "sorry, that's just been bugging the crap out of me."

"The espresso machine is down, so we can only make certain things right now." Avery told the patron as he stepped up to the counter. "you give me strong black coffee vibes anyways." she had no idea whether or not she was right about that, and even if she was wrong it wasn't like it would be the end of the world. "we've got a couple of our baked goods on sale too." Was it because of the issue with the espresso machine? Maybe. She hadn't asked.

"It feels weird, right? Different?" Avery asked, her finger moving around the lip of the mug of coffee in front of her. "Even compared to what happened at the dance. Do you think we should get some things for extra precautions on the door? One of those chain locks? or would there be something that works better for you?"

"This guy keeps asking me to dance. I've told him no each time, but he still just keeps coming around. I swear if he tries one more time I'm just going to lay him out" Avery chuckled a little, her words clearly a threat towards the man she was talking about, but sound of her voice not entirely matching.

Avery had wondered what would happen if she never found the other person with the same number on their wristband. Would it even matter? It wasn't like she was out here trying to find true love at a hoe down. She had decided to leave it up to chance if she and her pairing found each other, but she wasn't going to spend her time to actively seek them out.

She was busy getting a drink when she happened to glance over and spot the wristband on the person next to her. Ah so this was him. "I think we're supposed to talk" she said as she tapped her wristband with a finger on the hand that wasn't currently holding a cup of beer. "Or we could just stand and drink. I'm up for either."
