Hey :) you're one of the only people I follow who is into both the silm and CR so I was wondering if you've seen the C4 hint from Brennan and if you have any thoughts about it? (I can expand but I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't seen it yet!)

I am assuming you mean the audio clip? I don't have Beacon so I didn't do any clue-hunting, but it's linked on the wiki (here) (I don't think it's on Encyclopedia Exandria yet but it is on the Fandom wiki)

Re: the Silmarillion, I did let out a little Noise when I heard the world was called Aramán, because of Araman in the Silm etc. Also, the audio clip is really interesting!!! It seems like (combined with the promo image) they're going for a very mythic high fantasy world with antagonism between people and deities (?) which I am very excited about, because that's one of my very favourite genres. I love a tone of ruin and tragedy!

Brennan's previous CR work (Calamity, Downfall, Divergence) is among my favourite specifically because in many ways it scratches that same itch! From a Silm fandom angle, I think he's definitely inspired by Tolkien in really specific ways that appeal to me (though obviously he and the players make it very much their own Thing) and I can't wait for more of it!

Hiya! I read The Thief a couple years ago after seeing lots of ppl recommending it online and wasn't very impressed, but I know you've said the later books are where it really gets going. Only books 1&2 are in print in the UK but someone is currently selling a set of the first four (US imports) on eBay. So basically my question is, do you think I should bite the bullet and buy them? I love fantasy, love political fantasy (baru cormorant, the goblin emperor, but definitely NOT GoT), love myths so probably based on your descriptions it should be my Thing... I've had loads of good recs from your blog, but I'm just a little nervous about buying all four when I was kinda meh about book 1 I guess?

Hiya! Please could you give me any info on the UK publication of Winter's Orbit? It's showing up as by Little, Brown and looks to be straight into paperback, whereas the US links are for hardbacks. Is that right? Thought I'd check as there's no cover image on UK websites yet and I know the rights stuff can get complicated. I want to preorder as soon as we're allowed back into bookshops - I'm super excited for it to come out so I can rec it to everyone I know! (Also sorry if this would've been better on the sideblog, I wasn't sure where to go!)

This is a great question, thank you! In the UK and most other places it's a paperback from Orbit. Orbit are still finalising the cover they want which is why it doesn't have a cover on non-US sites - I've seen a mockup and it looks very cool, very blockbuster poster; I'll post it here when I have the final version! In the US and Canada it will be the hardback from Tor.

Between your Torchwood blogging on my dash and the Torchwood mention in Spyfall I decided to do a captain jack rewatch like two weeks ago and now I'm actually losing it because my wishful thinking was right???? Holy shit I'm so excited and I have NO IDEA what's happening, it's great!!!!

I KNOW????? SAME??????????? Like, I saw screenshots of the announcement post on twitter that someone was coming back, and that John Barrowman had liked it, and a bunch of people were like 👀👀👀 “what if tho”, but I sort of didn’t seriously think it would actually happen? Like it was fun to speculate but I didn’t think Jack would be the person they brought back. But then it DID, and this episode dropped so much new and interesting stuff for the rest of the series and aaahh I feel more excited about Doctor Who than I have in absolutely ages.

(Also glad to be a contributing factor to that rewatch.... :D)
