These two ladies came to see AWAKE not once but twice this week—summing up all that's best about our print community, near and far, in person and here online. I feel so damn lucky to be connected with so many talented, caring, precise, professional, real-mccoy people in the field like @amadapress and @hellobeansnrice. I may be the tallest but I'm the baby sister of these three @sternandfaye apprentices and I look up to them. Deep gratitude to the life and work of Chris Stern and Jules Faye, that's provided the invaluable foundation we work from. To all my teachers, colleagues, students—I am so grateful to be smack dab in the middle of learning with you! #awakeshow #apprenticesisters #gratitude

Because, you know, gotta have a cool keepsake print in my back pocket to give away at my first ever gallery opening TONIGHT. First coat of wax applied & buffed, and suddenly this piece feels complete. Will add a second coat for good measure of course but what a relief—guess that's what a good finish is for, to feel finished. Oh flat black! Still drying, and a few more coats to go, but on the right path. How many cans of paint does it take to find the right black? 8, in this case. Worth all the testing and talking shop and chemical fact-sheet reading. Feeling deep gratitude for my local hardware store across the street, and the specialty paint store 15 min up the road—their depth of knowledge, kindness, and gameness to consider every detail with me, through every new project, is invaluable. I don't regret my background in the trades any day, was better prep for this artist life I'm living than any art school I could've attended. #black #white #painting #typography #awakeshow
