[Writer's Stash] More Room
(This is a short, unfinished beginning of a story I have apparently typed out and forgotten about. Enjoy.)

"Almost ready?"
Peter braced himself against the thin wall of this alien apartment and tensed up. Through laboured breaths, he responded.
"Y-yeah, lemme just... get into position."
"Now?"
"Now!"
With a mighty push of his thin body, his legs finally moved the coffee table three extra inches across the polished floor. He grinned over at his equally as exhausted friend, who grinned back and helped support him as he returned to a standing position. He felt the soft hands of his friend wrap around his waist, and their noses brushed one another.
"N-no, Alex, we shouldn't.."
"Come on, we're in a new apartment!" his partner in apparent decorating exclaimed, raising his hands and turning as if to take in the wide space around him for the first time.
It WAS a new apartment - one Peter didn't even know he wanted yet. They'd bought it together, more out of fiscal responsibility than anything... at least, at first. It was a pretty small, one-bedroom place with a tiny kitchen, but, as Alex had insisted when they first saw it, "It's a chance of home. Of us, together properly."
"What do I have to do? Pull the moon out of the sky?" Alex exclaimed, his bright blue eyes riding his smile right into Peter's own, dark eyes. The dusty-haired boy shoved Alex playfully, half-heartedly giggling. "No, of course not..."
He didn't get it. He STILL didn't get it, and it wasn't worth explaining so repeatedly.
"I'll do it, you know." Turned away from Alex, Peter still felt his eyes on him, and then his arms; back around his waist. Following suit, a pair of soft, talented lips beside his head. Alex had to stoop slightly as to hold who he considered his partner like this, but he knew Peter adored it. "I'll pull it right from the sky, and cause tidal drifts the likes of which this planet has never seen before."
They both smiled, and Peter appreciated the attention to detail. "You'd collapse society as we know it just to have me?"
Alex shrugged. "Well, I'd stock up first - y'know, rafts and food and stuff, but I don't see why not. Give me a lever and a place to stand..."
"...and I will change the world." Peter finished. He knew the quote from heart, just as Alex did. "Speaking of levers, will you find another place for yours to... 'stand'?" Peter giggled again, this time whole-heartedly, as Alex bent over slightly and re-arranged his clothing. "Sorry," he muttered with a smile, "You affect me more than Poseidon does the sea."
"At least he doesn't -poke- people with is trident." Peter turned and pecked the tall boy on the cheek, matching his would-be partner grin for grin. "If he did, we'd tell much different stories of the old gods."
"They're not THAT old..." Alex said, frowning his playful frown and pretending to be slightly hurt. "Oh I'm sorry," replied Peter, this time being the one who holds the other around the waist. "I wasn't aware you were an ancient greek god of the oceans, but if that's the case I guess I can expect sushi for dinner?"
His frown turning to a coy grin, Alex muttered "Perhaps if your eyes were older than the stars they seek, you would get sushi any time you wished."
With such eloquent prose, Peter was momentarily stunned by a quote he hadn't heard before - though, his surprise was short-lived as he had come across a few in Alex's arsonal that he was fairly sure were freshly made up. He tried his own hand at it.
"And perhaps, my dear, if you ate the words you spoke, we'd have no need for dinner at all!"
...and promptly failed. Alex gave him a Look, one which he returned with the accompaniment of excuses. "Well, y'know what, shut your face hole and eat me."
