Awkward Prompts

A young Iris was out of breathe, hiding behind a tree. She was running away from something in the deep of the forest. Perhaps a bandit gave chase. Maybe a horrible beast. Whatever it is, it has given Iris a spook.

The thing approaches the child. She felt a cold sweat on her back. She tenses up. The thing came around the tree. It was Ephault with a spider dangling on a stick.

"Ha, I got you good today." He proudly stated.

Iris pouted, "You know, I'm going to tell mom." The two ran back home.

Awkward Prompts

💬 - Talking to themselves.

After talking with Hancock, Iris decided that a nice soak at the hot springs would be good to clear her mind. her thoughts were consume between the war and dealing with feelings that were said back in Ishgard.

After changing her clothes and washing herself off, she head into the spring. She sat down. The heat from the water made it so she sank down to her shoulders.

"Aymeric, Artoiel, Stephanivien, even Francel." she muttered to herself. "I know I did a lot for Ishgard but wasn't expecting that many people interested in me."

"Boo!" a loud voice shouted. Iris jumped to snapped her out of her thoughts. She turned around to see Taturu. The lalafell sat down right next to her. "Sounds like you got a few things on your mind. Care to share?"

"Y-you didn't hear what I said, d-did you?" Iris knew Taturu heard what she was telling herself and started feeling embarrassed for thinking out loud. She sank down further, where her mouth was cover by the water. She didn't want to talk about it. She hates talking about her love life.

"You knew that I was going to ask. I have heard the rumors you know." Iris gave Taturu an icy stare. "Oh, don't give me that look. Better me than say Alphinaud or Estinien."

Iris sighed, knowing that she has been thoroughly defeated on this subject. She swam towards the rocks that Taturu was sitting on. She got up and hug one of the rocks next to the lalafell. "It's just so complicated. They are all great men. How can I bring myself reject all but one. Sure I could let them down gently but then what." she paused for a second "With Stephanivien and Francel, if I pick one the other might not be all too happy with the relationship. I already dated Artoiel's brother before so that also feels awkward if I go out with him now. Aymeric seems to be perfect but I feel I'd get daggers from any noble lady within 100 feet of me. I know it's such a trife matter in the middle of the war but it does bother me quite a bit." She sighed again.

Taturu gave Iris a few head pats. "Oh Iris, I think you are over thinking the situation. Quite honestly, I think you should be selfish instead of trying to make everyone else happy. What is it that you want?" Iris pondered the question for a moment. What is it that she wanted in a relationship.

Iris pick up her head from the rocks. "You do bring up a good point Taturu. Maybe I should choose I want instead." she stated with a bit of optimism in her tone. It was as though a weight was lifted from her.

Awkward Prompts

"Oh come on now Estinien. If I could learn how to fell dragons, you can learn how make a proper cup of tea fit for an Ishgardian lord." The two elezen were in the kitchen of the Fortemps Manor. Iris thought it would be a good idea to make some tea while they wait to hear back from Aymeric from his visit from the Vault. She figured it would help ease everyone of the situation and Lord Edmont agreed.

Though Estinien felt that was a ruse. Willingly let a mad woman torment him. Make him do something that he isn't meant to do. He thought. "And why should I? It's not like I drink this stuff normally." he huffed.

"You should. You will never know when you need to after this war is over. Especially, you are one of two Azure Dragoons, I'm certain that you will be invited to all sorts of social events with all things said and done." Iris responded. After a short pause she continued, "Plus it's not like I can make all this tea and serve it by myself."

He grumbled under his breath "I'd rather be eaten by a dragon than go to some tea party with some lord."

Iris looked like she was in her element. After showing Estinien how to prep the cups most of the tea cups are warmed up and ready to go. However, she realized that the serving tray was nowhere to be found. She looked up and down for it. Eventually, she found it up high on the shelves. Too high for her to reach on her own. She didn't want to bother Estinien as she would much rahter him focus on his task.

She got the step stool. She climbed up it but still couldn't reach the tray. She goes on her tippy toes. She was almost able to grab it but as she touched the tray she slipped off the step stool. Estinien saw what happened and sprang into action.

The sound of china shattering and metal clanging against the stone floor rang out from the kitchen. Iris opened her eyes. She noticed that she isn't on the floor but rather there was an arm wrapped around her waist and a hand on her breast. It took her a moment to process what happened. A strong blush crawled across her face until her complexion was as red as a rolanberry.

"Well the tea turn out well for someone that never made tea before." Lord Edmont is happily drinking the tea that the duo made. Iris was having trouble keeping eye contact with everyone at the table, especially at Estinien. At least the tea was made well.

📝 - Writing something.

Awkward Prompts

Dearest Father,

It's been a while since I've last wrote to you. After the event that happened in Ul'dah, I felt that I couldn't write to you or mother or even Ephault at the risk of the Brass Blades finding me. After the danger pass, I found that my adventure had kept me busy between fighting dragons and dealing with Ishgardian politics. I know that you don't care too much about either of those subjects so I won't go into too much detail. After all, I'm certain that you heard about one of them.

After the end of the Dragonsong war, Lord Aymeric decided to host a ball in celebration. I made a really gorgeous dress. I wish I could show it right now but it might have to wait until I get back to Gridania. I met so many lords and---

Iris crumpled up the letter. She knows that mentioning anyone of the opposite gender will get him to insist she try to go on a date with them. She really didn't want to deal with the follow up letter to tell her to date Aymeric or one of the lords that she met at the ball. That would be one awkward conversation with him the next time she sees him.

Write a 2 part story, each chapter with no less than 1514 words

No less than 2 characters. The MC is a detective and finds a water-damaged journal near the crime scene. No one else finds it. What does s/he do, and how does s/he go about it?

There must be: two dead bodies, a weird smell, and a water gun

bonus: the MC is the criminal
