it's art fight soon so it was time for new refs for my main gang* for my fantasy story, a war of consumption

gia is like her world's equivalent of a biochemical engineer that also deals heavily with evolutionary biology so i hope that explains why she's so fucking insane a little more. have i even talked about gia being insane. im not sure. gia is insane because she's eating everything all the time to see what will and what will not be used for human magic system. gia will eat dirt and has eaten dirt to see if it works (it does if the dirt has nutrients the human body can process). she watched plants a lot to see how they do their magic. she's happily let pixies and faries (magic parasites in the world) feed on her just to see how it all works. she has about 18 diseases cause of this

for context that's a pixie which in this world is a magic parasite (like a mosquito but for magic not blood) and when it feeds on u it can sometimes transmute magic diseases like mosquitos transmute blood disease. hence only sometimes deadly. anyway arha lets them eat from her for fun cause she is a biologist like that (freak)

blue girl is ai, she is the mc and a bit of a cunt but shes learning

pinkish/red girl is adalia, shes super tall and super strong and super able to commit treason

red/teal girl is arha shes a smartsss and lonely as hell. shacks up with these randos impulsively and comes to see them as family. if you see kakyoin traces no you dont

some details abt them under the cut

ai: 23. major cunt but that's not her goal so she can be very thoughtful other times. she's just very bitter abt some stuff and tunnel-visioned on finding her brother and it seeps into a lot of her interactions w ppl. shes not very well liked cause of this LOL. she gets annoyed easily but it fades as fast as it comes. she learns how to appreciate the ppl in her life in the story and how to let go of ghosts

wari: 17. young and excited and very puppy-dog like at first. despite this she's the tallest of the gang. really looks up to ai cause ai saved her from being kicked by a horse once and adalia is like whoaa cool soldier and follows her like, well, a puppy. wari joins the army herself and one thing leads to another and she kills someone and has a whole nihilistic phase over it. she gets better but she doesnt return to her puppy dog state once she does. she basically Matures. throughout the story

gia: 23. major chip in her shoulder about proving herself and outpacing her peers. as such she can be honestly kinda mean 😭 very ambitious and prides herself on knowing What's Going On and knowing people. it's a shame she doesnt really know ppl or even much of what's going on. she learns she doesnt know and then learns how and what and also humbles a bit. loves magic always shows off. big "high self confidence low self esteem" conflict

william: 46. ai and wari’s battalion commander. he's similar to wari, kinda goofy and kind hearted, but he's much quieter about it. to be honest not the best leader but he watches over his troops and he's been in the army all his adulthood so he's been put in his position. has a kinda renown for getting soldiers to warm up to well authority due to his lax nature which is why ai was shoved onto his troop (and wari volunteered later cause she wanted to be with ai)

qiu: 18. ai's brother. very blunt and kinda apathetic but greatly enamored with the natural world around him. loves working with his hands. bit of a pyromaniac, has fire magic. very against war, think kinda similar to how princess mononoke (character) was ferociously against industrialization

some brief world notes: it's a high fantasy story. there has been a 100 years long war over a lost magical artifact between two countries, one of which is ai/wari/william's, and the other of which is gia’s. when qiu is around seven and ai is like 12/13, their village is raided and qiu and ai are separated. unbeknownst to ai, qiu ends up with dragons who help him heal from his leg wound. ai, despite not knowing dragons took him to safety, still refuses to believe he's dead which is what everyone else thinks, and joins the military to use it as an excuse to go out and search for him. this is how she meets william and wari. along the way while doing what she has to to remain in the army, they find and fight gia, who eventually teams up with them. and yeah plot moves from there

last thing speaking of bees ive been learning more about them and ants lately in one class and ughghg theyre so cute. wari is totally a worker ant and ai a soldier ant
